Healing crystal advent calendar?

DD (13) is obsessed with crystals and has seen an advent calendar (national geographic). But it doesn't have great reviews and I don't think it's quite what she thinks it is. I've seen a couple of others around £50 upwards but I'm not quite that indulgent a parent! Anyone seen anything else of interest?

Is she obsessed with geology or just the healing powers of the crystals? The national geographic one looks like she could learn from it?

cowburp · 10/11/2021 14:33

If its just the healing powers then you could make one?

Beachbreak2411 · 10/11/2021 14:55

We have a shop local to us that sells them. My daughter is also obsessed by crystals so I’ve ordered her one; I usually get her a snuggle one so it’s not too different in price and she’s so excited. I’m not a believer but she is and it will make her very happy.

Beachbreak2411 · 10/11/2021 14:55

Oh the one we are getting is less than £30.. it’s literally just the crystals; nothing else (I don’t think)

You could get a refillable one and put the crystals in yourself? Etsy is good for crystals

Rockbird · 10/11/2021 16:47

She isn't interested in geology at all to my knowledge. It's just teenage angst at play. They're not for me but like Beachbreak's dd they make her happy so I'm happy to go along with it.

I've seen some that are advertised with the National Geographic logo, but there is no such advent calendar on the NG website (that I could find) and from the amazon reviews they appear to a rip-off and total rubbish!
This guy collects and sells alpine crystals, and will put together a mixed box, but it seems to be pretty expensive - www.crystals.ch/

Ah in that case id make my own then?

nancybotwinbloom · 10/11/2021 18:07

Make your own. You can get a wooden advent calendar from b and m with small wooden compartments and buy the crystals separately.

I got my teen one from the Stone Science museum in Anglesey, they’re really good value! Individually bagged and labelled. Link is here: www.facebook.com/100063563261581/posts/279256914203082/?d=n

And then I bought a refillable advent calendar

Rockbird · 10/11/2021 19:13

Thanks all. I've just ordered the stones from the Stone Science museum, thanks for the tip. They look great. Now to find something to put them in! He mentioned a stocking and she takes one out each day which sounds good. I'll see what's around. Thanks everyone. Smile

Etsy sell loads of crystals. You could get her one of the cloth advent calendars and put crystals into the pockets.

If you have a Flying Tiger store near you they sell cardboard advent calendars that you fill yourself
