Christmas cards.... is it just me?

I still send Christmas cards mainly because I've moved around a lot and it's one way of keeping in touch with people albeit annually (especially those who don't use social media). So a 'just don't bother sending' response is not what I am after here.

I try to buy from local charity shops but not averse to supermarkets' own and have often found WH Smiths and Next to have great cards. But I've not found any I've particularly liked this year (am in England).

I have also checked John Lewis and TKMaxx. I do make some cards but can't do homemade for everyone.

The only cards I've found this year that I like have been in the Card Factory, so this is not a snobby request at all, they are way cheaper and nicer than others I've seen. I can go back there and buy more of the same I guess but before I do ....

I appreciate it's a matter of personal preference, am not questioning anyone else's taste. So if you recognise what I'm saying, I.e. also struggling this year with cards, if you have found cards you are happy with, please send links.

My December is heavily committed with not particularly pleasant things so need to get the basics sorted ASAP. Thank you .

Paperchase?

Olinguito · 10/11/2021 00:02

What sort of cards do you like? I usually buy mine from the RSPB online shop.

@ramonaquimby

Paperchase?
Yes I usually really like their cards, and have a pack in mind but they are very like the ones I sent last year. I am sure the recipients won't remember, I will though!

I haven't been to the shops this year, so I've no idea what's out there.

Depends on your taste I suppose.

Have you tried looking online at various charities, then you can look for the nearest branch

ramonaquimby · 10/11/2021 00:05

Haha I buy multiple packs and sometimes send the same cards two years in a row. Am sure most folks won’t remember!

JamMakingWannaBe · 10/11/2021 00:11

My local Christian bookshop has got gorgeous Christmas cards. (I was in having a coffee and I get the art ones DC do for the school fundraiser). WHSmith I've liked in the past.

I think it's so hard to describe what you do / don't like, am hoping someone who reads mu OP will think 'that sounds like me' and will post a link to cards I love! Every other year I've had the opposite problem where I've bought all my cards and keep finding others I love.

Checked the RSPB site as suggested, I quite like these packs.... doesn't given enough of an idea of my taste but an example:

Sorry attachments didn't work. Hopefully now. To be clear, don't' 'love' these but would find them ok if I had to

Some different options here x

I haven't been hugely inspired yet either OP. They all seem very pale! And I don't like dogs with hats on much.

I might get one or two of these from the Donkey Sanctuary — they're nice but they're not massively exciting me.

DH ordered us some quite nice ones from UNICEF

I would pick a cause/ charity that's important to you, and buy from them without worrying too much re the design. Ones without glitter are better in terms of recycling.

I family usually have nice ones, as do red Cross.

pastaparadise · 10/11/2021 01:28

Oxfam not I family!

waltzingparrot · 10/11/2021 01:31

Garden centres often have a good selection.

beachtosunset · 10/11/2021 01:45

Also I forgot the good old Post Office have some nice ones too.

Becca19962014 · 10/11/2021 01:50

I buy mine from Eden.co.uk (it’s a Christian site with a good selection generally speaking) have for last couple of years - they’ve similar designs to the one you posted. I only buy welsh language cards locally, which I’ve only just got, literally a choice between two designs and not impressed with either!.

Doofas · 10/11/2021 02:48

I like some of the RNLI ones. Your probably best off picking a cause you support and buying some of their cards. Then it doesn't matter as much what they look like it's who you're supporting.

1forAll74 · 10/11/2021 03:27

I bought some online last year, but can't remember the online site now. But the money went to various charites, you could choose various charities. I tend to send what I call old fashioned cards, like countryside scenes, like farms or cottages with snow in the fields, and always send some with robins on them etc.

They were beautiful cards, and I bought too many packs of them, because of how lovely the scenes were.. I put four of the scenic ones in frames, and put them on the wall in my kitchen. Now got plenty left, for the next couple of years or so !!

beachtosunset · 10/11/2021 03:51

...and these are nice too: good variety from The British Legion
