Ideas for 6 ds and dd8 please. Circumstances are about to change and money will get tighter so nothing too expensive. Trying to make it special but not spend a fortune.

Not sure about ds but I have some ideas for dd. Depends on her hobbies, of course. But some things similar age SD is getting -

Fancy pen with jewel on (poundland/the works)
Notebooks/secret diary with lock (same shop as above)
Fun bath stuff e.g. colour changing bubble bath/bath bombs (poundland)
The Works do 2 for £10 on craft kits like bath bombs/scratch art. Could get something for each child?
Jewellery from Claire's (there are always items reduced)
Lots of pound shops do hair bows etc
Second hand disney princess plush dolls can be found on ebay for a good price, in good condition
Lidl often have art stuff in their random stuff aisle
PoundToy online are great for board games and card games
Matalan usually do nice sparkly tights which are usually a hit here

We don't spend a lot, and get stuff second hand mostly aside from the above. I also give practical stuff in stockings such as a fun scented shower gel, or one of those flannels that expands in water.

I hope this helps!

Do you have a FlyingTiger shop nearby? If not I think they now offer online. They have some great little games, pens, notebooks and random bits my kids would love, and really good prices too. Especially to fill a stocking, would be perfect.
