Main present has already been purchased - a new iPad and case. No idea what else to get!

So far we have:

Pyjamas
Dressing gown
Slippers
Variety of clothes
Lush bath bomb set
Soap and glory set

She got an oodie for her birthday this year along with loads of make up and perfume which has been stuffed at the back of her cupboard --such a waste

We have asked several times for ideas but we just get a shrug and "I dunno". Gave her money last year and she literally blew it on utter rubbish - think bulk fidget toys from Amazon, which again, stuffed in a drawer.

Says she's too old for Lego (what?!?) and doesn't want a jigsaw as they are boring.

What are you buying for your younger teenage daughter for Christmas?

Sounds like you have loads already to be honest.

Art supplies
Baking subscription
Books
Tickets to an event or show
Any sports or hobbies needing equipment?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 08/11/2021 13:55

My 13yo is a boy but ear buds, fake oodie, fancy pen set (relatively speaking!), a coffee table style book on world history, watercolour paints and brushes, Chilly bottle, board game, echo dot, gaming voucher and lots of books!

snugglyblanket · 08/11/2021 14:06

My 13yo is getting a Stranger Things hoodie, Friends Central Perk Lego set, ticket for local theatre show, books & clothes.

Last year's favourites were Scrawlrboxes, a Sprocket & baking stuff. She also had some stuff for her room as we redecorated a couple of months before.

JaninaDuszejko · 08/11/2021 14:07

I have a 12yo and 13 yo DDs. They have appreciated the following presents recently: proper SLR camera, ear buds, new phone, art materials, baking equipment, books, clothes, fairy lights, bath bombs, novelty hat, piano lessons.

Popcornriver · 08/11/2021 14:16

What sort of things does she like OP? Does she read, play video games or do any activities you can buy things for? Thirteen is a tricky age. I haven't got mine makeup because likes yours it would be thrown in a cupboard. She loves bath bombs and special bubble baths etc. Could you make a little hamper up with some other bits to go with the lush set? Or put together another little hamper like baking or hot chocolate? How about something to go with her ipad? Someone suggested earbuds, that's a good idea if she needs a good pair. Maybe some gift cards for things she can do on the ipad like vouchers for Netflix/play store/kindle etc

Londono · 08/11/2021 14:21

DD is getting Japanese sweets, adult colouring books and pencils, perfume, a secondhand bike as her main gift, books and a Galaxy projector

It doesn't sound like you need much more tbh if she's getting an iPad

A few suggestions

Winter boots
Tarot cards if she's that way inclined
Retro tamagotchi
Coffee shop vouchers
Books, colouring book, sudoku puzzle book, magazine subscription or readly subscription to use on her new iPad
Lady's have type thing if she's ready
New hairdryer
Hair accessories
Notebooks and gel pens
Nice mug with some hot chocolate
Yard of Jaffa cakes / Oreos
Plant in a cute pot for her room
New purse / coin purse

ReginaaPhalange · 08/11/2021 14:27

Really good suggestions here - thank you :)

She does read - she has a kindle but lately she's taken to just playing on her older iPad (really needed upgrading).

I'm thinking:

Hot chocolate set
Art supplies
Pamper hamper

I just feel guilty that because her iPad is expensive, it's just one present if that makes sense? When she was younger, if we spent that same amount on other toys, she'd have had loads. I guess it's my problem that I need to realise it's quality not quantity. She's very lucky to get what she's getting I suppose :)

I've got DD13

Cash for main present to the same value as her brothers lego.
Lovely bracelets and art from the seven dials market
Some vintage theatre glasses as we always sit in the cheap seats at the theatre
A ton of sweets
Knickers and socks
Pjs
A massive pile of books

Enb76 · 08/11/2021 14:34

My 13 year old is getting a new sewing machine and some sidesaddle lessons.

Stocking present stuff is books, necklace, an antique bun fork, an owl necklace, coloured inks for fountain pen, a sewing pattern for stays and a linen shift, some art supplies, sugar mice, chocolate coins and a satsuma. I didn't manage to produce a child of this century.

Ame133 · 08/11/2021 15:01

My just turned 14 year old is getting an Apple watch as her main present, board games (friends & throw throw Burrito) nail art set, pjs, clothes, and a big blanket for her bed.

BaconAndAvocado · 08/11/2021 19:15

So far I have bought my 13yo DD:

Fleecy PJs
Fluffy socks (lots)
An oodie from Next
A tie dye craft set
A set of led candles
A bottle of Nina Ricci perfume
Nerds
Hand warmers
A Beme tea making kit

She would also like:
A plushie sushi toy
Clothes (that will probably involve lots of returning of packages 🙄)

JaninaDuszejko · 08/11/2021 19:27

Thought of some more things: cacti and succulents. They (the teenage girls of my aquaintance) are obsessed! Also, anything Studio Ghibli related, and origami paper (I got some lovely stuff here). Also Wreck this Journal was super popular.

BaconAndAvocado · 08/11/2021 20:27

Yes to cacti and succulents!

user1493494961 · 08/11/2021 20:29

I think she's got enough.

stealthninjamum · 08/11/2021 20:35

So far my dd has a Beano annual, chocolate orange, sausage dog hot water bottle, a fake oodie, pyjamas, onesie, Tolkien unfinished stories book, a small Lego set, gaming mouse and mouse mat, set of 7 other books (can’t remember author). I’ll get her more things but she doesn’t want / need much.

Spacerader · 08/11/2021 20:47

I have a 12, 13 and 14 year old dd and dsd's

Some of the things they are having or have had in the past or have asked for (not that they will necessarily get them)

Trainers (Air force, jordans, converse or vans seem to be the popular ones)
Wirless ear buds (they have had cheap ones in the past that work fine, this year they are having airpods)
Pandora/Thomas sabo rings (usually the cheaper ones around £30)
They always have a decent pair of studs for Christmas that can be worn to school and won't tarnish or turn thier ears green.
Nike Socks
Neon light
Sunset lamp
Diamond art
Apple Pen
Clothes (usually from bershka or stradivarious, these seem to be popular clothing stores with teens)
Hoodie (goose and gander and asos collusion range do nice ones, they have to be oversized as well)
Perfume
Bath bombs
Hair stuff
Hair straigtners/dryer
Hair towel
Silk/satin pillowcase
Big oversized dressing gown (no oodies for mone, apparently they have said they are not a thing any more)
Travel jewllery box
Jewllery box
Phone covers (my daughter seems to like having a collection and changing it weekly according to the season/holiday)
Record player
Hot chocolate velvitiser (the hotel chocolate one or you can get cheap ones)
Smart watch
Pjs
Nice bras and underwear (pink, Calvin klein or holsister usually)

I have DDs 11 and 13. Some things they have asked for (DD13 will also be having a birthday before Christmas) :
Bike
Digital piano
Apple Watch
Mini cooking sets (like yummy nummies sets)
Books
Victoria Secret body sprays
Body shop skincare
Hairbrush
Campus notebook & paper
Zebra mid liner pens
Weighted blanket
Paint pouring kit
Soap making kit

JumperandJacket · 09/11/2021 16:22

DD is a similar age and is getting the following (her birthday is shortly after Christmas so this lot will be spread over both occasions)

DM boots
Nike hoodie
Airpods- she just lost hers :(
Michael Michaud earrings
Loads of art stuff
An alarm clock that apparently leaps off the bedside table and runs around the room, will believe it when I see it
New mascara and eyeliner
Daisy perfume
Book about paper crafts
Book about cactuses (she collects them)
Wolf Alice Tshirt
Chocs and sweets
PJs
Men's cashmere jumper

PhantomErik · 09/11/2021 16:27

My DD (nearly 13) has just got into making flipbooks. I bought a pack of blanks over lockdown & last week she wanted to try one & watched some you tube videos to give her ideas & now she spends ages on them! I'm thinking of getting a proper kit with a light box etc.

Also considering a 3d pen.

oohlalabonbons · 10/11/2021 20:59

Some great ideas here!

DD is getting her room decorated for Christmas and has requested a huge amount of ivy with twinkly lights in.

Kyliealwayshadthebestdisco · 11/11/2021 02:59

Oooh what about one of those Instax mini Polaroid cameras, my son of a similar age has one and loves it. Or if she tends to take photos with her phone you can buy mini printers that will print Polaroid size photos directly from your phone which look good?

reluctantbrit · 11/11/2021 07:57

We had this last year and I found that DD really understood the value of presents and the need. to see lots of gifts is going down. So I. am sure she will appreciate getting just the ipad and some smaller stuff.

Things I found work for DD:
Clothes linked to TV obsession, she gets a LOKI hoddie
small inexpensive bits of jewellery
Costa voucher
books
board game, especially card games. They play UNO at school in lunchtime
Mug cake recipe book

BaconAndAvocado · 19/11/2021 12:11

My 13 yo DD has requested an electric blanket. It goes beneath the undersheet.

Hopefully it will be very different to the electric blankets of the 70s which had a tendency to burst into flames!

The one I found is Silent Night, £30 at Argos.
