We have a wii and the kids love it in the winter and play sports together as we have a few sports discs.

Recently Dc have enjoyed playing sims at a friends house. I don’t like violent games.

I’d like to get him sims for Christmas. They don’t have a laptop. They both have a kindle.

We have a wii but I can’t see sims for it? So would I need a play station or x box?

Any other non violent games we can play as a family?

Many thanks

We have the Nintendo switch maybe you can get it for that. All the games we have are non violent games and loads of fun interactive games and it can be used solo or on the tv as a family similar to the wii. It was expensive but it gets used a lot. My older sons (16&20) have an x box and PlayStation but younger 2 don’t play with them.

We have Minecraft on the Wii U. If more than one person wants to play you need a Wii Controller Pro.

We have an original wii, and 2 children aged 7 and 9. Dug the wii out about 2 years ago. Have always liked the lego Harry Potter game - sometimes you have to defeat people, but mainly with wands. Most of the game is running around getting stuff. However, it does follow the plot, so would have spoilers if not read books or seen films. We got a switch in the summer, and boys now obsessed with minecraft. They are only doing creative at moment, and are not online with it. Also mario kart is a goid game - for 1 or up to 4 players. Can get on wii or switch. And Mario and sonic at Olympics was good on wii. We have old one from 2008 - sure there are newer ones! And guiness world records on wii. So none of those are fighting / gun games and age appropriate.

I think you mean Minecraft @IAAP

You can get Minecraft for WiiU, PlayStation, Xbox, but not for the original Wii.

You can get Minecraft pocket edition for Kindle Fire.

Do you know what type of Wii, and what type of Kindle you have?

We got the switch (not switch lite as I believe that cannot connect to TV). Think we paid £280. They might come up on offer on black Friday with games included. We figured we would get one as games for the original wii were getting harder to find, and newer games aren't made for it. Also, harder to find replacement controllers when one went wrong. We got 3 extra controllers that link to the switch (not official joy cons though).games seem to vary in price from £20 up to £40-£45. So was an investment, but was cheaper than a PlayStation. You could try minecraft on the kindle first to see how you go.

Ds has an Xbox which came with Minecraft and free stuff. From memory it was about £250. To play with friends remotely he does need a subscription to Live but to be honest he's got my money's worth out of, especially during lockdown!

If you have a PC you can also play both sims and minecraft on that. Probably on higher spec laptops too.

I’ve found the Wii is best for family games.
