PlayMobil
Crafty stuff
Tonie box

He just got a new bike for birthday and scooter still fits.

Vtech marble rush
Thomas trackmaster

DrWankincense · 03/11/2021 19:12

I see the Tonie things are popular but it seems expensive for a smart speaker. Or I'm misunderstanding the capability of it.
I have a jigsaw, and bought a magnetic dinosaur thing today will, will get books..just struggling a wee bit for ideas.
Thank you.

His list is (no parental input yet):
Big Ninjago Lego set
Water bottle
Wrapping paper

He’s getting the big Ninjago set. The others?!

Mine is a girl but don't think that matters too much, these are things she has asked for but probably won't get all of them!

  • hotwheels, or actually I'm looking at smart track as a bit more open-ended
  • playmobil adventure playground
  • cards for yoto player (she got the player last year, would highly recommend)
  • galt science kits
  • The Boy Who Grew Dragons story books
  • The Enchanted Wood story books
  • Kinetic Sand Dino Discovery
  • Spirit Untamed dolls and horses

I would recommend Yoto over Tonie for his age, the cards are cheaper and have a wider age range (up to 12) whereas Tonies are aimed younger. They are very intuitive for kids and not connected to any data so very safe in terms of Internet safety etc. Not at all like Alexa which is always listening and can accidentally make Amazon purchases etc, its a lot more child friendly.
DrWankincense · 04/11/2021 07:31

Thanks for explaining @DockOTheBay, I'll look at that too.
We don't own anything like Alexa etc and we are a bit behind in terms of tech/gaming etc.

Lego, vehicles with big wheels, for some reason he's obsessed with diggers, cranes etc but spends more time playing with the wheels than the actual vehicle. I've bought him ,and his cousin. Inky's fortune. I got the idea from the bargains thread.

QforCucumber · 04/11/2021 12:29

Ds list is
Lego stuntz
Batman pinball machine (8.99 in homebargains)
Drawing/art set
Science experiments
Snorkel
Marble run

He will get most of those, one or 2 from santa the rest from us :)

My 5yr old has asked for one of the new animal themed Echo's. He's also getting some small Lego sets, wooden Lanka Kade animals, I'm considering a bike, and then I'm a bit stuck. He doesn't have much of his own interests, but copies his older brothers.

Lockdownbear · 04/11/2021 13:33

Lego,
Tablet,
Speaker,
Switch n go Dino
RC Car
Possibly a stomp rocket.

That's a combined birthday/ Christmas list. He's got the obvious scooter, bike type stuff.

RaginaPhalange · 05/11/2021 15:55

Monster trucks
Hot wheels tracks
Minecraft figures
Book
Super Mario puzzles
Pj's

user64323 · 05/11/2021 21:12

Mine got a Yoto last year and it great, we've used it daily. My 8 year old loves it too, I put the daily podcast on in the morning to wake her up. My referral code gives 10% off if anyone wants to use it. prz.io/y1qJ448Tp

My 5 year old is getting a Playmobil universal remote control along with a couple of compatible vehicles (recycling truck and fire engine, one from us and one from grandparents). He's also getting some Lego, a beginner skateboard, a stomp rocket, kite, Hot Wheels storage ramp and mermaid Playmobil to go with the pirate Playmobil he already has.

Timeforsinging81 · 06/11/2021 12:13

@DrWankincense Have you bought him a ride on yet? We could do with a new one for the garden as 5and 2.5 year old have both out grown our cheap tiny ride on but still play on it! I can't find a bigger one that isn't £££

Timeforsinging81 · 06/11/2021 12:19

My 5 year old will have from me and family,

Camera, small kid friendly one from Amazon
Magformers
Wooden car track to add to brio set he already has, and some compatible Duplo connectors
Simple Operation type game from the works
Lego annual and maybe a Lego set
Maybe some fireman Sam pjs or toy

His brother is getting lots of Playmobil vehicles so I'm sure he'll play with those too. I've got spyrograph and guess who on his list of ideas too.

Samanabanana · 06/11/2021 12:33

Jurassic world lego, ice cream play doh, bath bombs, a tamagotchi (!!), books, treasure x alien thingy, other little stocking fillers.

DrWankincense · 15/11/2021 20:06
