Preferably something that is simple enough for them to be able amongst themselves, but fun enough that grown ups would also enjoy it.

MNHQ Update
This thread is a little old now, but if you've landed here while searching for board game recommendations, our guide to the best family board games has been recently updated to reflect current availability. It includes a wide range of options suitable for the whole family to enjoy, from toddlers to adults - all tried, tested and approved by Mumsnet users. We hope it's helpful! Flowers

My son is 7 now, but we started playing more board games when pandemic started, so now we're proper board game family.
We don't play kids version of games, just ordinary versions.

Big hits are:

Ticket to Ride (USA and Europe)
Carcassone
Catan
Azul
Scotland Yard
Labyrinth
Qwirkle
Camel Up
Patchwork
Zombie Kids Evolution
Lost Cities
Kingdomino
Dragomino
Enchanted Tower
