Ideas for fill your own crackers

Stompythedinosaur · 28/10/2021 10:22

I have a box of fill your own crackers in the loft that I'm determined to use.

I used to fill my own crackers when the dc were tiny and happy with a schleich figure, but they are now 8 (very nearly 9 at Christmas) and 10. I will also need to do one for dp, dbro, dm and dmil.

Any good ideas?

I put Lindt in mine last year for the adults, sussed out fab flavours and got a pick n mix, no small kids here but that was happily received by the adults!

Ricekrispie22 · 28/10/2021 10:52

Lego mini figure
Keyring

Samanabanana · 28/10/2021 11:32

We do mini lego sets and have a competition to see who can build theirs the fastest!

Scottishgal85 · 28/10/2021 11:33

For the adults I add a small sweet (either a small bag of Haribo or a Lindt figure) and a scratchcard. They always go down well.

GiltEdges · 28/10/2021 11:34

Lindt do the little Christmas bears / Father Christmases which we've used in previous years Smile

catnidge · 28/10/2021 11:40

We also do scratchcards and a nice chocolate.

For children mini puzzles, small ball, those sticky things you throw at the wall, mini slinky, ball catcher etc

BaronessBomburst · 28/10/2021 11:43

I put Lego in mine last year, but everyone in my family loves Lego.

BestZebbie · 28/10/2021 11:54

We just use Quality Street….

BaconAndAvocado · 28/10/2021 12:05

Always add a scratch card to mine.

Last year I bought some lovely Xmas tree decorations from Etsy for the adults. They were similar to these:
www.etsy.com/uk/listing/1077631790/fused-glass-tree-decorations?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=fused+glass+tree+decorations&ref=sr_gallery-1-4&organic_search_click=1

I also included a scratch card and Lindt chocolate, plus a joke/riddle (topical ones found via google).

Jokes were similar to these:

BrieAndChilli · 28/10/2021 12:21

lego mini figures
scratchcards
keyrinigs (got everyone one that was relevent to them)
earrings/necklaces
lipbalms
little bottle of hot chilli sauce
funky bottle opener
wine glass charms
little bottles of spirits
unusal chocs/sweets eg my kids would love 'american'sweets

Scottishgal85 · 28/10/2021 12:40

Is there a good place to buy mini Lego sets? I like this idea, but not sure if I'd get any sets that would be small enough to fit a cracker?

WeAreTheHeroes · 28/10/2021 16:32

The likes of B&M sell sets of Lego type figures. If you've got a number of kids you can buy a set and they all get a figure

Stompythedinosaur · 29/10/2021 01:52

Thanks for all the ideas! I think lego sounds good for the dc, and I love the glass decorations too.

Particularly loved the topical jokes!

Look for nanoblocks - it's like tiny Lego.

In the past I’ve done
Alcohol miniatures
Flower seeds
Nail varnish
Glass nail files
Personalised bottle opener
Hand cream
Earrings
Glasses repair kit

Longbarn5 · 29/10/2021 21:02

Quick question... Do the alcohol miniature bottles not break if they end up on the floor when the cracker is pulled?

ramonaquimby · 29/10/2021 21:57

Lots of miniatures are plastic now

Ah, I didn't realise, that is something I will look at then. Thank you for letting me know

I started last year and put Sylvanian family blind bag figures in my girls, could do Lego or Playmobil ones for older children, then I may do small items from Claire's this year.

DH and I had a miniature Sainsbury's pomegranate and rose gin. Might have the same again this year or I might put some water colour paint tubes in DHS this year

We've twice now done charity pin badges - marine conservation society and RSPB.

DentalWorries · 01/11/2021 15:13

Which DIY crackers have you all purchased? Or are you very crafty and literally making them from scratch?
