Father Christmas, and her little sister as an elf?

fancy dress is fancy dress. Of course it isn't stupid but would she want to dress up as Father Christmas or something more girly, especially if her sister is going as an elf.

I once dressed my dd as Red Riding Hood, and her baby brother as a wolf for a fancy dress thing. They were SOOOOOOOO sweet! Linked costumes always have the Ahhhhhh factor!

We have done an Alice in Wonderland theme with our 3dc. Ds1 was the Knave of Hearts, dd was Alice, and Ds2 was the white rabbit. Have also done the Lion, Witch and the Wardrobe with them. Ds1 was the Lion, dd the witch and yes you've guessed it ds2 was indeed the wardrobe

It has to be a Christmas theme. I don't think she'll notice re girlie thing, that's one of the reasons for chosing Father Christmas, DH and I think it's funny, and she'll probably object next year. She has a lovely red dressing gown which would be perfect, and I'm lazy. hmmmm. getting the impression it isn't as funny as OH and I thought it was!
Very impressed with your proper costumes!!!

we didn't use proper costumes for at least one of the dc in each theme. Knave was made with cardboard as a placard over ds head iyswim with lots of playing cards stuck all over it, and a plate of jam tarts in his hand. ds2 was only little so had a popper vest and some girls white tights on with cotton wool for a tail, and white bunny ears. Equally his wardrobe was an old crisp box that we covered in white paper, and made a door in it.
Wasn't suggesting that you used these themes, was trying to agree that your idea was good. If your dd is up for it then go for it

can't take any credit. It was dh mainly. And dd did have her shop bought dresses both times. Like you and your dh, i think we got as much pleasure from it as dc did. They just enjoyed winning the competitions (we were on holiday both times, so had to make them - no room in the suitcase)
