I have seen some great suggestions on a variety of other threads on charity donations that are lovely gifts so I thought I would try to collect some here.

I always buy “dinner for 2” at the homeless shelter next to where DH works for his Christmas stocking. Its an amazing local charity.

I'm buying micro finance schemes for the adult kids this year. They can see how their money is being used and when it is paid back, reinvest in someone else

I always buy a few things on the Refuge Christmas gift list when it is published.

Sponsor a kennel or cat cabin at Battersea.

The micro finance sites are great, I do a small loan every month and reinvest the repayments.

I really like the sponsored stones at the Tower of London, I think my mum would like that too.

How do you go about buying a micro finance scheme? This sounds interesting

I use the Lend With Care website, I think they do gift vouchers too

Dad and I have exchanged Lend with care vouchers a few times now. Quite the burgeoning portfolio between us. That reminds me to log and reinvest.

I also love www.worldreader.org/
I wish you could sponsor a kindle at a time, unforch there's nothing between monthly donations and sponsor a school library of 50 kindles for $15,000.

I have done a few over the years- Trussell Trust, Mustard Tree, refuge, and continue with Lendwithcare. The one that was most personal was wool to a group who knit woolies for premature babies, Neonatal Knitters. My DD was premature and those cardigans were such a help when she was born.
