Hello all,

I thought it might be fun to talk about the gifts we are excited to give and why, which might help someone else with an idea. I'll start:

Husband, early 30s
A projector. Not a fancy one, about £80 from Amazon. We have a small TV and a big blank neutral wall. Thought it would be fun for movie nights. I've also made a 'hamper' to go with it with slightly funky snacks including caramel nuts, bill tong and of course popcorn! For the hamper I am just using a recyclable gift bag. I've made a little cinema ticket (free templates online).

A box of favours. I saw this idea on Amazon so decided to do it myself, I've basically just made a dozen or so laminated favours - things like a hot drink (he usually is the tea maker), me to wash car, a takeaway of his choice. I bought a diddy gift bag for 49p and I put some mini mint lindors in the bag as they are making everything else smell of mint!

A scrapbook of our adventures this year.

12 days of Christmas socks!

A selection of games - few recommendations from here (Hive and Ticket to Ride) we enjoy games but usually play the same couple over and over again so I think he'll like them.

Dad, late 50s
A massive discounted bottle of Molton Brown (from outlet shop) as he works very hard in a physically demanding job and has a bath every evening to relax

Niece, 5
A massive craft box - even I think it looks like good fun.

Love to hear yours!

DS just wants money. Makes me sad!

Last year I think I was most excited about giving my niece a lovely Llorens doll I tracked down for her which cries and says “mama” on pulling the dummy out. It was so beautifully made and presented and I knew she would love it as she is really into dolls. And she did! I also bought her some sparkly glittery shoes which she also loved. I have best aunt status now lol. I don’t know why I was so excited about those gifts in particular but I think she is just such a girly girl and loves the sort of things I would have loved at her age so it’s lovely to be the person to make that happen for her!

Such a fun thread!

I've got my boyfriend the Parliament Christmas jumper, which sounds bizarre but I just know he'll love it, he's really into politics and has been wanting a jumper in that style for a while.

I usually see buying presents as stressful and an extra burden as need so many each year so it’s lovely to see some being celebrated instead! I think I need to get better at thinking of similarly great ideas and celebrate doing so more!

Paw Patrol dough set that’s like the old Play Doh ‘mop top hair shop’ for my toddler that keeps saying ‘ I’m paw patrol crazy hairstyles!’
Camping duplo set and a weekend glamping trip for DH and DD.

Our ASD son is desperate for a dinosaur 3D micro scooter helmet.. with a new bigger maxi micro scooter in red with flashing lights. He's very obsessive over these things. (He's even been found asleep with his current micro scooter also under his duvet 🤷🏼‍♀️)
Scooter was fine. But that helmet in his size I had to search high and low for it to be in stock.

A digital photo frame for both sets of grandparents. They’re always asking for photos so I’m sure they’ll really like it.

IcedCoffeeAlways · 30/10/2021 05:08

Everything for my DS 😍 He’ll be 13.5 months at Christmas so he doesn’t understand it yet but I can’t wait to watch his excited wee face when he sees new toys. He absolutely loves the toy kitchen at his toddlers group so we’ve got him a lovely one for the house I know he’ll be so excited!

I’m due a DD2 in a couple of weeks so will be going to the local art place to make a ceramic bauble for all of the grandparents and great grandparents. They help you do a hand and footprint and then I paint on “merry Christmas” plus her name and DOB.

I did it when my DD was born back in 2016 and they all love getting them out every year so I’m excited to give these.

I’ve also upgraded my DHs coffee machine to the Nespresso vertuo which he will love.

My DD is getting a Leapfrog Leap Reader and a Vtech kiddizoom camera plus some smaller bits which she will love.

Great idea for a thread!

Aw I can't think of anything this year. They both had the 2020 iphone SE last year (on contract not bought outright).

I can't think of anything they will love. How sad x

cliffdiver · 27/12/2021 08:02

How well were the gifts received?

DD1 loves her Tamagotchi, but DD2 didn't like hers at all and hid it in her ottoman sofa so she couldn't hear it Grin it's mine now.

lucysmam · 27/12/2021 11:08

@HappySonHappyMum your crystal box idea for your dd sounds like something my dd1 would enjoy. Did you buy in person or through a website? :)

HappySonHappyMum · 27/12/2021 11:13

@lucysmam I bought a multi compartment earring box from Amazon for about £6 and added individual crystals that I picked out from the psychic tree website. She absolutely loved it!

lucysmam · 27/12/2021 11:26

Thank you, I'll make a note in my "Mum book" of that website to take a look later on when neither of them is hovering around me!
