Do you make your own panettone? Come talk to me about the tin you use, please...

I'd like to try making my own panettone this year but can't really justify another tin. Could I use one of my cake tins & line it higher? Or is that destined to go wrong before I start?

If you have a bargain tin, could I have a link, please, to where you got it from?

Good grief. Respect! I once watched a YouTube video about making panettone ... It takes AGES! I think you have to hang it upsidedown at one point ...

I'm sure it will be wonderful though. I love panettone. It's amazing with whipped cream (although to be fair, almost everything is).

From my favourite Italian cooking channel (English subtitles available). He uses a cardboard panettone collar ... I'm sure you can get these. Do photo the results and share!

Oooh @RedRosie thank you. I thought I was destined to buy a new tin anyway, but maybe not! I'll post pics if it goes well Xmas Grin

I tried, once. To answer your question re tins, I bought cardboard cases, you can get them from Lakeland.

However…. it took literally all day, I spent a fortune on the ingredients, arranged a complicated set-up to enable me to hang it upside down using skewers as the recipe instructed - and the whole thing tore in half, ending up in a collapsed heap on the table. Could’ve cried.

Never. Again.

Good luck!
