Gift Ideas For Preschoolers

We're doing the five gift rule but am struggling for 'need' ideas for preschool aged kids. Any suggestions?

What age? On my 2 year old list is a bike, a yellow, helicopter (magnetic one) and I’ve also going to get LED spoke lights, Apple to pears story tin, bath bombs and a Hey Duggee bath toy. She is our youngest and we already have lots of toys already. I’m hoping to spread the gift ideas among other relatives and also give her a box or box full of balloons which she will love.

Sorry I’ve now read your message. I would say a scooter or a bike is a need. The rule of 5 doesn’t need to be exact.

I vaguely follow these rules too (although what is the fifth one?) because I always feel it gives a good mix of gifts for children, but my interpretation of want, need, wear, read is very loose!

What does a pre-schooler need? Toys to help them learn (also books and clothes but that’s probably covered in wear and read!) A board game, a jigsaw puzzle, a special box or bag to put their bit and pieces in, colouring pen or paints, a snuggle blanket or cushion.

Thanks for the suggestions. I love the idea of educational toys. They also get a lot of things passed down which makes it harder.

Last week I bought my DDs new umbrellas because we’ve had quite a bit of rain recently and not enough brollies. I cannot tell you how delighted my 3yo was with hers! It was like it was the best thing I’d ever given her, dancing around with it and carrying it everywhere and I remember thinking I should have kept it for a Christmas present she loved it so much!

Slippers (we’ve got the light up Paw Patrol ones from Matalan but they do several other light up versions)
Bedside light - DS has this one and dd has a snow globe one by Djeco.
Book case - dd got one shaped like a dolls house
