I know 1 year old DS won't be bothered how much he gets for christmas, but surely 4yo dd will notice if his stocking is virtually emtpy! DS was 1 about a month ago and there's not much small stuff (to fit in stocking) that's suitable. So far I can only think of dish/cup/plate set and a CD....
Suggestions welcome

Am doing one for my 8 month old for similar reasons (gives my toddler more stuff to open ).
He's getting a china bowl & cup, cutlery set, a wooden pull-along toy, squirty bath toys, a top and probably a book.

Roll up plastic bib, soft soled shoes for cruising/first walking, sippy cup, hard to think of non-practical stuff I know. I have a 3 yr old and a 3 month old so have the same issue! Might put lots of tangerines in to pad it out. Also got a new bath sponge for mine. He really doesnt need toys as is about to inherit so many!

Good suggestions - think i'll get him a real sea sponge! Practical things are good, as you say, they don't need much when they inherit older siblings toys. A top is a good one too that will fit in all folded up. thanks
