Can anyone point me in the direction of a good gift for my godson? He loves vehicles of all kinds. Would like to get something he'll really like. He already has a train set with lots of accessories and a garage.

Thank you!

The Usborne books Look Inside Cars and Big Book of Machines are big hits in this house.

If he lives anywhere near Strood, Kent/ in West Yorkshire or County Durham, what about a gift voucher (or contribution towards cost) for day at Diggerland to drive real vehicles?

Kinetic sand construction box
Ride on/pedal tractor
Car play mat - we had this double sided one
Take apart racing car
Toy fire engine with lights, sounds, extendable ladder and hose

Richard Scarry - Cars & Trucks and things that go

If he doesn't have it already.

Themed duvet cover or nice PJs.

TumtumTree · 13/10/2021 16:26

My DS2 loved hotwheels toys.

SheWoreYellow · 13/10/2021 16:28

My middle one was like that. He loved this book more than anything

The options for 3 yo at Diggerlabd we’re very limited when we took DS to the Yorkshire one, but that was 10 years ago.

ParkheadParadise · 13/10/2021 16:29

At that age, dd loved a massive fire engine I bought in B&M's. It wasn't expensive but it had all the things she loved(i hated😜) lights, sirens, lift. Any kids that came to the house loved playing with it.

MuchTooTired · 13/10/2021 16:32

My son is the same. He’s a particular fan of wearing clothes with diggers/cars/trains/tractors on them, and has a love of jumpers. His face was a picture when he unwrapped the jumper from his nana with a tractor on it!

FrancesFlute · 13/10/2021 16:36

Gift card or voucher to go on a local steam railway?
Socks or pants with vehicles on? My DS was thrilled with some Thomas & Friends pants recently (M&S).

JumperandJacket · 13/10/2021 16:46

Thank you so much, everyone! Lots of good ideas. We are too far from Diggerland unfortunately.

Last year MIL bought DS a remote control JCB from B&M, he loved it (and spent most of the xmas period 'delivering' cadburys miniature heros to everyone in the scoop)

Stompythedinosaur · 13/10/2021 17:21

If he has a brio/bigjigs trainset then there are lots of extension pieces that are really good. My dc really enjoyed a loading crane for the train and also a log loader.

Personally I think Bruder do ace vehicles can get some
Via Symths toys online or stores they are excellent quality or he may like small collectibles like hot wheels.

Diggerland I'd say you need to be school age as 1m height needed for lots of things. You can go on something if smaller, but lots of watching for my toddler when we went. They have sites in Kent & Devon too.

Personally I'd say Richard Scarry is out dated now. Very old fashioned. The look inside usborne are nice books and will last.

herecomesthsun · 13/10/2021 19:05

Diggers are good at dig, dig, digging,
scooping up the earth and lifting and tipping.
They make huge holes with their dig, dig, digging.
They can work all day."

book and toy e.g here

Many parents of small boys know these verses off by heart...

Does he have a bin lorry? We got one from John Lewis last year which was very popular.

Also second the kinetic sand construction box that @Ricekrispie22 suggested. If he has it already you could get some of the add on packs, mine is having the pave and play set this year.

Boy twin (2 in Dec) loves anything with wheels. Has surgically attached himself to this at his nursery. So much so, he has been known to weep at having to come home and leave it there Grin It's the most popular vehicle there with the 2-3yrs I would say

Word has it, Father Christmas is bringing one...

You can sit on that one too!
TwinsandTrifle · 13/10/2021 21:02

Christing Christ. He'll explode when he realises he can ride on it too.

He has apparently taken it for a nap and fallen asleep cuddling it!

Ds6 & Ds2 love Bruder diggers, farm toys, trucks, land rovers and vehicles. Always a winner with mine. Dd4 loves them too. A little bit more expensive but they last well. Ds6 still has his from his 2nd birthday. Amazon often have better prices 🙈, but there are some good independent online stores too.
