Earbuds for teen

Looking for recommendation for earbuds for teen. Don't know much about earbud brands and if it matters he has samsung phone so don't know if that means he can't have apple earbuds or not?
Are the cheaper alternatives like skull candy just as good?
Any recommendations?

My DD has skull candy ones, they are always in her ears so I assume she is happy with them. There is no way we would have been getting air pods or a similar pricey brand (she didn't ask for branded) because it is a wonder that these haven't gone up the hoover the amount they are just left lying around.

I have Anker ones and they are superb for the price. DS has Samsung ones he got for Christmas last year and he uses them every day and lives them.

Apple airpods will work with android but there will be certain features that you don’t be able to take advantage of as far as I know.
