Advent calendars for a preteen girl

DD is 11, and has previously loved the Smiggle advent calendar, and the Harry Potter Lego one. Now she is getting into makeup, but still likes stationery. Any ideas for advent calendars? What have you got?

The tinc one seems quite good. My dd1 liked the Harry Potter funko pop one last year. This year she has two due to a miscommuication between me and dp - a gemstone one and one where you get a charm for a Christmas charm bracelet each day.

Ah yes, I have seen some gemstone ones @Stompythedinosaur which one did you get?

I'd also like to know which gemstone one may be the best please?

Bomb Cosmetics does a bath bomb one and there’s another bath one called Beauty Crush which I’ve seen in Boots.
Joe and Seph’s gourmet popcorn is fun and there’s a stationery one by Bic.

I made by dd one. I feel it's a bit of an i between age. It had lip balm, body sprays, bath bombs. Etc.

Like the idea of a gemstone one.

I always make one for DD too. I buy little things she’d like as I see them. This year it will be shower steamers, lip balms, body mists, gel pens, fancy erasers, small notebook etc. It probably works out a little more expensive but I know she’ll use each item so less waste.

Araisaris · 10/10/2021 09:47

There’ll be a couple of crystals/gems in there too.

That's how I feel by making it. I view it as just part of the present budget.

I'd rather spend more and know that all the bits will be used than only 1/3 of them.

I got the national geographic one, bit I am slightly regretting it now as the reviews aren't great.

Which Harry Potter one?
SkinnyCoffeeBean · 10/10/2021 13:27

I bought DD11 the w7 makeup advent calendar off amazon last year and it was lovely! Would definitely recommend it!

Having googled them I think I may buy the gemstones and make my own up.

I’ve bought dd11 the bic advent calendar, she loves stationary!

reluctantbrit · 11/10/2021 08:02

We had a bit of hit-and-miss with make up/beauty ones for DD, she wasn't keen on a lot, the colours were not really what she wears.

Together we decided to go for a homemade one, chocolate with several small gifts every 2-3 days I know she will use instead of having stuff all over the place.

She loves funko pop but is a nightmare keeping things organised in her room so I don't want 24 little figures flying around everywhere.

LemonCake79 · 11/10/2021 08:12

I've got The Body Shop for my 9 year old. She spotted it in the shop on holiday and kept asking to go back and look at it... I said it was too expensive and then snuck off to buy it for her when we got home.

Last year I bought this one from Superdrug. It was perfect for pre-teen make up.

Currently the Lego Friends one is down to £16 at John Lewis and I think Amazon and the Smiggle one is half price, in case that makes a difference?
