Something pretty for the garden…

This is my mums request this year, and it’s the only year she’s actually told me what she wants. Her and my dad (70s) had their garden done this summer, it’s mostly paved and decked to make it easier for them (as their health is declining) and they have a little shitzu dog who they adore. Any ideas? I’m honestly useless at garden stuff, budget around £50 ish.
Not got the foggiest for my df either if anyone can suggest something there too.
Thank you!

You could get a really nice pot (or pots) for that, which would sit on the decking/paving and look good all year round.

Lovely bird feeders? National Trust has some lovely things, also some nice garden decorative 'bits'

I bought this in the summer and it's pretty. Lights up in the dark and spins in the breeze.

Same as littlefaith I've got a peacock wind spinner from Amazon and it's lovely.

Small Japanese Acer?

Froppysue · 08/10/2021 17:41

Thanks everyone, some great suggestions! I had thought of a bird feeder/bird bath but they had to stop feeding the birds as they were being terrorised by seagulls!
The Japanese acer looks lovely, she’s very into her plants and I’m not sure what she has already so I’ll try and get my dd to sneak a peek when she’s next round! I’m sure she’d always appreciate nice pots.
I like the spinning thingie too, my dad mentioned metal things to hang on the fence but I can’t find anything of the sort and I don’t know if its him that’s confused or me Grin

I would have a look on Etsy. They have some lovely and unique metal garden decorations. I am eyeing some up myself.

Froppysue · 08/10/2021 18:25

They’re lovely @SergeiL thanks, I don’t think the spikes would work with their garden but something like the statue would be good.

There’s loads of options. I can literally spend hours searching on there! Grin

Bay tree in a pot?

These are gorgeous. Our neighbour has a robin one:

I’ve asked for a decorative outside wall clock (but then I don’t wear a watch or have my phone on me when I’m gardening).

Barbiesarm · 08/10/2021 21:18

Water feature? It's lovely hearing running water when sitting outside and we got a 2 barrel thing from Amazon this year for about £50.

My mum absolutely loves sitting and relaxing in her swing chair. Similar to this:

Thank you for this thread .
I have just bought those little worms popping up from Etsy .
My mum (82) will have a naughty smile and laugh at them in her garden !

Froppysue · 09/10/2021 14:11

Thank you all so much these ideas are amazing!! Some lovely things I’ll have a search through now, I like the idea of a metal clock actually as she doesn’t wear a watch or have a phone outside, a water feature could be lovely too, my dc want to gift her something small too so some of the wind chimes or catchers would be nice from them.

Olive and sage have got some lovely things for the garden on their website. I’m waiting for some solar lights to be delivered from them for presents. Lots of other ideas on the site.

bizzey · 09/10/2021 16:42

Ohh , Olive and sage does look good .
Think I would need a bigger discount code than 10% .
Need to think about that , but would be good for exPIL.
