To put jigsaw in advent calendar

When my son was three I bought him an empty fabric advent calendar. I usually fill it with chocolate coins, candy canes, tickets for theatre or cinema if we go that day, little cars or something like that. This year I would like to put a little jigsaw puzzle so we can finish it by christmas eve.

I have found a perfect one. It has only 40 pieces and looks perfect, but it is very small - 4.92x3.43 inches.

Does anybody has it and is it worth to buy it?

I have another little wentworth puzzle and it is TINY, and way too fiddly for my 6yr old.
I would get a normal larger one (50-100 pieces) and put a small section in each day of the advent, so you can do eg 5 piece section each day.

Thank you. I thought as much but I wanted to be sure. Normal puzzle it is.

That's a lovely idea. Will have to remember when my dd is older.

I think that's a really lovely idea! My two are only (almost) 4 and (almost) 2 but will definitely remember this idea for future

I'm not sure about a jigsaw in an advent calendar because he might get completely unconnected pieces for a few days, so he will have a collection of jigsaw pieces that don't fit together. By the time he gets one that fits to another piece he might have lost interest. Also how are you going to put 40 pieces into 24 days?

I wanted to finish the puzzle by myself before I put it in advent calendar. So the puzzle grows during the advent period until it is finished on christmas eve.

There is no reason to have the same number of pieces every day. I will not buy this puzzle now I know it is too little, but I will put normal 100 piece puzzle and put 4 pieces for every day.

Actually I already have a perfect one. I wanted to do it with him one Saturday afternoom, but instead of that I’ll put it in the calendar.

Great idea, op, and both those puzzles are lovely 😊

I think it is a great idea. I would do the puzzle first and then make sure you have enough connecting pieces so you can actually continue and not have some random one.

Rather than put jigsaw pieces into the advent calendar, I'd put a note in that days pocket saying 'Look in the cupboard' (or wherever) and put the jigsaw in there. It'll then be a treasure hunt as well.

What a lovely idea!
