Figured I can ask this in here without being lynched 😀

I've started buying the kids gifts - they're 23 and 14 so hopefully their tastes won't change too much in the next couple of months.

I've made a start on food. I predict issues come December so I've already got my joint of beef, chicken and turkey crown in the freezer along with sausage rolls, vegetarian mains and other bits and pieces

I've bought most of my chocolates/ Percy pig goodies / tins of sweets/ cheese biscuits tin. I've also bought wax wrapped cheeses as they're dated so well

Soooo .... am I the only nutter who does this?

I’ve done ds (age 13) stocking.
Got a few food and drink pressies in, chocs, Prosecco etc..
Bought secret Santa for work.
Bought some charity cards.

Feel a bit better for making a start.

HerRoyalRisesAgain · 06/10/2021 19:17

I've finished shopping for DD and my best friend
Have only 2 things left to buy for DS2 and 3 things for DS1.
Have planned exactly what I'm buying for mum, stepdad, grandma and 2 brothers, and have asked the kids to think of ideas for their dad.
I dont have to worry too much about food as my mum does Christmas Dinner, so I just have to buy selection boxes and tubs of chocolates

MissyB1 · 06/10/2021 19:20

Christmas dinner in our house is left to Dh - as he insists on being in charge of it!

I take charge of the booze Grin

AGreenerShadeofKale · 06/10/2021 19:21

I've written a vague list. Mostly names with empty spaces besides.

winterescape · 06/10/2021 19:24

I’ve got a list and I’ve invited friends for Christmas lunch.

That’s it.

ThirdElephant · 06/10/2021 19:24

M and S food order done, Santa visit booked, Christmas crafts purchased

PeonyRose80 · 06/10/2021 19:26

I’ve mostly sorted stockings for DS, DD2. Not for DD1.
Had wine, prosecco, champagne and gin delivered thanks to Sainsbury’s 25% off 6 bottles.
Ordered M&S main meal and dessert as made for a much more chilled Christmas last year.
Not thought about main presents for kiddos or parents. Booked panto too.
Feeling quite chuffed after writing that down!

BatFinksWings · 06/10/2021 19:27

Ooh not the only one! Excellent!

I think I just like the planning and buying tbh. Plus feeling organised.

We've ordered Christmas lunch from Cook, as well as other bits for the days around the holidays.

I've bought Christmas pyjamas for my DC and their stockings are done and quite a number of their bigger presents are stashed away. I need to finish off ordering toys this week and next. Hoping it's the Sainsbury's toy sale next week (as I've already raised Tesco one and Argos one).

Our Christmas ticketed outings are all booked.

I bought the first Xmas present for MIL last week, as it was a John Lewis offer I didn't want to miss. We're in the midst of a renovation that's due to be finished last week of November, so I'm not really bothered about buying gifts for adults, as I prefer buying tiles and taps at the mo 😂

Seesawmummadaw · 06/10/2021 19:30

I’ve got for nearly everyone apart from dc as that’s the bit that I love the most.
I’ve got Christmas cards.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 06/10/2021 19:34

I've most of my presents bought.
I've started planning the decorating; it was our first year in this house last year and I did a fairly half-assed job because of the 2020ishness of it all. I want to put more thought into it this year.
The kids have almost finished a crafty present for their aunt. There are a couple more things they have to tackle but I'd hope to have them finished by Halloween.
I've started thinking about the menu; that will ramp up in early November, along with making the cake.
I think I've decided what to wear.

lightand · 06/10/2021 19:35

Bought some of the food.
Bought most of the presents.
I have to calm down now, as I thought number of visitors was guaranteed[covid exempting], but I am now not so sure as I was.

I want to write xmas cards before Dec, but I have to feel in the mood. And most times I dont feel Christmasy enough to write them before Dec, so I irritate myself!

Tanfastic · 06/10/2021 19:35

Ooh what have you put in his stocking? My ds is 13 and I'm looking for inspiration ☺️.

I've not done much prep apart from book Xmas tea out at the local pub. First time I've ever eaten out on Xmas day and can't wait.

UnLunDun · 06/10/2021 19:35

I’ve worked out what presents my 4 year old and I are making - a Button Moon spaceship for her youngest sister, a floral collage in a nice frame for Big Sister 1, a pompon Garland for Big Sister 2, fudge for her brother and a pressed flower key ring for her Dad…and I’ve bought the book-presents for our family Jólabókaflóðið on Christmas Eve (my favourite part of Yule festivities.)

FourTeaFallOut · 06/10/2021 19:36

I've got about 60% of the gifts and have an idea for most of the rest, organised the Christmas trips and pantomime, got most of the advent calendars, culled old toys to make space for new and got wrapping paper and cards ready to make a start on some of that next week.

1stTimeMama · 06/10/2021 19:42

I've done nothing apart from thinking about things, and am already worried about that fact!

Holothane · 06/10/2021 19:44

Nothing everything has gone wrong this year dh smoke 70 quid a week away, home iscoming on a treat though but Christmas is a wash out at the moment🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

SugarAndSpice1234 · 06/10/2021 19:44

I’ve made a start on DCs stockings and gifts, booked Santa Train visit for Christmas Eve and Harry Potter tickets for the 27th (part of eldest sons Xmas presents).

kittenkipping · 06/10/2021 19:47

I've got the "big" gifts sorted for the children and most of their stocking. Dh I know what I want to get him but need to wait until payday to buy it.

Wrapping theme and presents sorted. Acorns drying for gold spraying and card list made. Ordered my turkey from the local farm.

We'll be decorating 19th- 21st December. Booked for Father Christmas on the 26th November. Ballet and panto booked for December. Checked which day the lights switch on is and planned to go to that. Booked into the pub Christmas carols night.

My family presents and time together sorted. Dh family are a NIGHTMARE and won't be committed to ANYTHING before December. Which means they are disappointed every single year as they have nothing booked with the kids and we already have plans on the "best" days. One year I "gave" them the Boxing Day and didn't make plans to ensure they had a prime day with the kids but they refused us (on the day despite it being said months in advance) made other plans and ensured that from that point on if they refuse to book us early- tough. First come first serve I'm afraid. So in a way- dh family are sorted in that I already know they'll fail to approach us and ask when we can visit and fail to organise anything and then, new year sometime, moan that they "missed out" on Christmas yet again .

Perfect28 · 06/10/2021 19:49

It's one day, just one day. The planet cannot sustain this consumerism. Make a nice meal and enjoy the company of loved ones.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 06/10/2021 19:56

Have main expensive presents for DC and other bits. Youngest DC is nearly finished but I have a few more bits to get other DC, that I will finish this month. Have started buying some food and alcohol. Have wrapping paper, advent calendars and Christmas cards. I have only a few stocking bits but will crack on and finish them next week and have purchased Christmas jumpers.

Ivalueloyaltyaboveallelse · 06/10/2021 19:58

Also booked a day trip out to visit Father Christmas.

BatFinksWings · 06/10/2021 20:05

Maybe @Perfect28 goes by that pious little poem of something they want, something they need etc etc 😴

I’m 90% done. I’ve got all of DH’s presents, and have five more gifts to buy for others (I know what I’m getting them, it’s just spreading the cost). M&S food order is in and we’ve bought all the non perishable stuff with long enough use by dates. We’re hoping to go to Wales for Christmas but Covid numbers are rising there, so I’m not ruling out more lockdowns, so will have our own Christmas dinner on New Years Day if we go (we love turkey) and Christmas Day if we can’t go, so covered either way. We’ve booked a couple of Christmas things. I just need to buy cards, wrapping paper and Lindt late enough for them to still be some by Christmas.
