I would like to get a joint gift for the kids of a Tassimo or Dolce Gusto compatible coffee pod machine, but it will only be used for hot chocolate as none of us drink coffee. Which should I get on that basis? I guess I'm more asking which has the greater range of pods variety wise?

Personally I don’t think pod hot chocolate is very nice, it’s made with water I think rather than milk? So I’d go for a Velvetiser from Hotel Chocolat or one of the cheaper alternatives. I love our Velvetiser.

Agree with the above. The velvetiser is fantastic. It makes really lovely hot chocolate. And if you buy the tubs of chocolate flakes rather than the boxes of sachets it's better for the environment. And much better than pods

Lavazza A Modo Mio Milk Easy Frother, For Milk-based Recipe, Black https://smile.amazon.co.uk/dp/B079CHCKKN/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttfabc710WCGZ8BR8PBW237CJZ

As @supercritter says.

tootootaataa · 04/10/2021 18:51

Please don't buy into anything that involves plastic capsules.

livingthegoodlife · 04/10/2021 19:57

100% velvetiser. You won't regret it. My kids can use ours independently..

Bighousebustup · 04/10/2021 20:44

Velvetiser is amazing, really yummy hot chocolate, no plastic pod wastage, easy to use and clean. We love ours.

Whereisthechicken · 04/10/2021 21:01

Another vote for the velvetiser. It's amazing!

EnjoyingTheSilence · 04/10/2021 21:14

We all love our velvetiser, kids and adults

MaverickDanger · 04/10/2021 21:16

Ditto @supercritter. We got rid of our Velvetiser for this & got it for a fifth of the price.

OhFortheLoveOv · 04/10/2021 21:28

Another vote for velvetiser! Tad on pricey side but worth every penny, we use all the time. We have tried various hot chocs in ours all work well, whittards sticky toffee hot choc turned out fab

bearfood · 04/10/2021 21:36

Ok so I'm swaying towards a velvetiser or similar now...never heard of them until now honestly! Do they only make one cup at a time? That seems to be the case from what I've seen during a quick flick through online. The Lavazza one looks great, but why is it half the price if the Hotel Chocolat one? What does the HC one offer that's worth the price increase? Sorry for all the questions, a tea person!

Lidl does a milk frother. Works for hot chocolate, it's about £15.

MaverickDanger · 04/10/2021 22:06

Honestly having had both, I didn’t see the hype of the Velvetiser. We sold ours on.

The Lavazza one was bought in the Black Friday sale & we use it daily, both for coffees and hot chocolates.

mogtheexcellent · 04/10/2021 22:06

I have the lavazzo. Bought for £19 in black friday deals 2 years ago.

DS has a Velvetiser and loves it - it does only make one cup at at time. The other one linked to looks like it does exactly the same job though. You could use the HC with it I would have thought, DS has lots of different flavours.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 04/10/2021 22:18

*the HC chocolate!

Rainbowshit · 04/10/2021 22:52

I bought my DC a velvetiser last year. It's amazing, we all love it.
