So, he's mentioned he wants some Paw Patrol toys, can anyone recommend a really good ones as a surprise ?

Also any other recommendations of stocking fillers or little toys/board games ?

Thanks, I feel I need some new inspiration as I can't get into that Christmas mood just yet, but want some good ideas.

Have a walk around Smyrhs with your child and see what they get excited about then take pictures 🤣 lots of paw patrol there too x

TeaAndToastx2 · 02/10/2021 23:32

Haha, yes I love the smyths walk around!

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 02/10/2021 23:36

I love etsy for getting unusual bits and pieces for the DCs current interests. Be wary of getting things too early though Dds interests as a tot changed quite quickly she was in love with In the night garden one September and had stopped watching it and was head over heels for Barney by Christmas.

Rainbowqueeen · 02/10/2021 23:40

Not in the uk but can you get gingerbread men cake mix packets at the supermarket? We can, with the mix, the gingerbread man cutter and smarties to decorate. Would be a good stocking stuffer.
Branded socks and pjs.
Snap/go fish cards
A couple of books

Jasmine11 · 02/10/2021 23:41

So far my 5 year old has got an octonauts bundle from eBay with the octopod and lots of figures, Jenga, a camp Cretaceous jumper, a slime making kit, and a Star Wars Lego advent calendar. I've got a few stocking filler type things like a scratch book about the solar system, a snow globe, and some bath bombs. Will also get chocolate coins etc for the stockings.

He's pointed out lots of paw patrol toys he likes, but he has so many toys we are trying this year to do maybe one or 2 main pressies then just a few little ones, so just wondered if anyone had got any paw patrol toys they could recommend, as he will have no doubt pointed at it already but just wanted a recommendation.

Thanks for the idea though.

My ds5 is heavily into Lego and playmobil! Not sure if he may also like these?

Snowdropsandbluebells · 02/10/2021 23:53

We had the paw patrol tower and vehicles.

Mine also loved duplo and still do and 7 year old (now and again)

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 03/10/2021 00:28

Smyths do a set of all the paw patrol pups. Maybe that?

Or at that age mine loved my busy books, which is a book with playmat and 10 little figures. We bought in supermarkets, whsmiths and tkmax for around £6. But also available on ebay for a bit more. They definitely do paw patrol and loads of other characters.

My daughter has the paw patroller and the jungle vehicle. Both got alot of use. (She still has them at 9 and got them when she was 3/4!) Nowadays they are fir transporting lol dolls 🤣

The entertainer do a set of paw patrol games we used to play. Other games we liked then were hungry hippos, jenga, guess who, connect 4, matching pairs, orchard toys - tummy ache, shopping list. We also played snakes and ladders and we have a great one called catventures.

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 03/10/2021 00:32

Stocking fillers - mine love treat food i wouldn't usually buy, fidget toys, character tshirts, pants, socks, toothbrush.
Tiger is great for little knick knacks. Or toysforapound.com I buy lots of stocking fillers like blind bags and little toys. Lots of branded stuff too, fast delivery and lovely company to deal with. (Use ARLO10 for 10% off!)

doodlejump1980 · 03/10/2021 08:25

My 5 year olds loved doing paw patrol jigsaws. Think we got them in smyths too.

Mummybeebumbling · 03/10/2021 17:58

My 4 year old loves paw patrol too. He’s just had his birthday and the absolute winner has been the paw patrol paw patroller than turns into a car track! He hasn’t stopped playing with it!

OchreBlue · 03/10/2021 21:04

My paw patrol fan got the 'true metal off road gift set' last year and she's played with them virtually everyday. Because they're metal she's taken them to the park, in the garden, sand, bath, everywhere and they still look new. I'd really recommend them, on offer at Asda right now too direct.asda.com/george/toys-character/kids-toys/cars-trains-planes-toys/paw-patrol-true-metal-off-road-gift-set/050068553,default,pd.html?cmpid=ppc--ad-------_-dskwid-s92700065364277373_dm&ds_rl=1238816&gclid=CjwKCAjwqeWKBhBFEiwABo_XBpxf47F3oDypxLpEIprWHqR2UaOV_sTigmk8sdmxJzLYli_Su04_ERoC1xMQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Mine's heavily into Lego (esp Ninjago). We have almost every paw patrol toy they've ever made but he considers them baby toys now as the three year old plays with them.

He also likes space things - a projector was too present last year and it shows pictures of the planets and stars on his ceiling.

Marvel toys are also much loved - he's got most of the 12 inch characters, and a few dressing up costumes.

This has been a hit for ages in our house. Loosely paw patrol themed in that it features Chase but will last beyond the paw patrol years! Paw Patrol Game

Only negative is the putting the pieces back in after each game but that’s quick with more than one pair of hands.

110APiccadilly · 03/10/2021 23:00

The best board game I've come across for that age is Labyrinth. Very easy rules, but it can be really strategic.

HappyBus · 03/10/2021 23:04

My 5 year old loves

Lego
Kinetic sand
Sharpie pens
Step by step drawing books
Bath bombs

Favourite games:
Sleeping Queens
Enchanted Forest
3 little pigs
Tummy Ache
What a Performance
Junior Monopoly
Dobble
Ok play

user64323 · 03/10/2021 23:47

Mine is 5 in December and going through a WANTS EVERYTHING phase. For Birthday and Christmas he is probably getting:

-Playmobil remote control unit (for vehicles)
-Playmobil Fire Engine (RC compatible)
-Playmobil Recycling truck (RC compatible)
-Hot Wheels storage crate that transforms into a car race ramp
-Stomp Rocket
-Space themed Mickey Mouse Lego set
-Frisbee
-Kite
-Learner Skateboard
-Wooden marble run

Other ideas he has shown interest in but probably already has too much on the list to be getting any of are Transformers, Imaginext, Lily Havesh Domino's, Kapla and Gotta Go Turdle (but I'm definitely resisting as it looks like a 5 minute wonder and ridiculous).

Like a PP, I would be wary of Paw Patrol still being popular at Christmas or that it would get quickly outgrown. 5 is the top end of the age range in which they like it IME.
My 5yo is getting some lego and Playmobil, Gravitrax (joint gift with 7yo), books, a kid's terrarium, and a Barbie she has long coveted. Other things she likes (that we already have) include Sylvanian Families, Hot Wheels cars and tracks, Kinetic Sand, Polly Pocket, dressing up clothes, and the Little Live Pet toys. Her favourite board/card games are Uno, Hungry Hippos, Operation, the fishing game (so noisy!), Connect 4, Buckaroo, Kerplunk, Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza (she's never quick enough to win this one, but has so much fun playing she doesn't care!), and Exploding Kittens.

Kanaloa · 06/10/2021 02:21

My dd just had her sixth birthday and got Chase’s car, Paw Patrol is still a favourite with her but she loves toy animals anyway and makes her own stories. For Christmas she will get the PJ Masks car that turns into a house.

She will get some outfits for baby born too, she loves her baby born and it’s easy to buy gifts around it as so many accessories come with it.

She also loves Lego City but it’s only the last month she’s been able to build it confidently from the instructions so I don’t think it would have suited at 5.
