Have 9 year old cousin who I don't see very often but relies on me to get up to the minute "stuff" - not sure where I got the reputation but seems I need to live up to it!!

Any suggestions?? - the more the better as is also her b'day New Year's Eve!

Sorry I'm a bit out of touch with that age group. What about high school musical stuff, popular with the pre teens. Maybe someone else can give an opinion on this.

MaureenMLovesmincepies · 06/12/2007 22:45

Make her a box of girlie stuff. Old shoe box, covered with Xmas paper and fill it high with, face packs, hair bands, makeup, jewellery, all really pink and fluffy girlie stuff. Get yourself to Wilkinsons & Primark and buy up all the stocking fillers. Tie the whole lot up with a bow and job done!

Thorntons do chocolate snowmen and santa's and teddies that you have the kids name/message iced on for free. They are only about £4 so would be able to get something else too.

i got a 9yo girlie......tomorrow in fact is her b/day.

her xams and birthday wish list's are.....

anything high school musical..ie dvd, cd, books etc

disney princess (altho neither of my other two girls liked disney princess ever so this may be a matter of taste...)

pretty sparkly clothes.

dance clothes (but she is a dancer, so again matter of taste/child)

card making bits.

any of the flower fairys books.

narnia set of books (altho that would be out of your budget)

top trumps

make-up and hair bits and a jewellery box.

a watch.

ooh, and a chocolate fountain.

think thats it, and HTH

Oh dear... I was hoping to glean some ideas for my nearly 9 year old DD and so far the non-edible suggestions almost exactly define what she definitely wouldn't want!

serinsingingcarols · 06/12/2007 22:56

Realise this might not be trendy enough but DD1 and all her friends are going through a really regressive stage right now and love all the stuff that they would have dismissed as being too babyish a couple of years back.
Stuff like Me to You bears and Miffy, Hello Kitty etc.

Also into backpacks from Billabong/Animal which are within your price range in TK Maxx

EmsMum · 06/12/2007 23:00

I did score a hit with DDs friends on their birthdays with The Girls' Book: How to Be the Best at Everything - I even got a request for it from one girl. 4 quid from amazon.

psychomum5 · 06/12/2007 23:02

i think I need the book mentioned 'how to be best at everything. I like to be the best for ME

psychomum5 · 06/12/2007 23:09

forgot some.....

magna beads

scooter

popcorn maker

pick n mix sweet shop (both my boys have requested one each too, along with money so they can play shops. they also asked that mummy allows xmas to be a sweety day and mummy not complain either).

a room tidy.

her own room as her sister is messy and she is tired of helping tidy other peoples mess!!(DD3,who this is, is very very fussy over tidiness!)

and lastly, put on tonight in fact, is a water dispenser as she likes cold water in the night.
