Trying to be organised 7yo DS

Ok, so my plan is to get organised a bit earlier this year so that I'm not flapping mid December. However, DS1(7) doesn't know what he wants, so I'm at a loss. Please could you give me pointers for stocking and big presents? I'd be eternally grateful!

And at the moment thinking DS2(3) will be easier, what's the betting I'm on here tomorrow with the same. I'm a mummy failure!

When my dd was 7, she loved her nintendo DS. She has mario games, pokemon, sonic. We used to spend ages playing them, taking turns.

She liked reading, mostly comics. So she had a phoenix comics and beano subscription at that age. Also simpsons and adventure time ones.

We played lots of games, jenga, bugs in the kitchen, monopoly/game of life junior, exploding kittens, payday.

She always liked small figures, sometimes to play with or nowadays they are displayed. She had funko minis.

Garden stuff always went down well, she loved the circus skill stuff like a diablo, spinning plates. Been eyeing up the wheeled pedals. But otherwise scooter, hula hoops, trampoline, football goal, basketball hoop?

Bits for her room, she loved a new fleece blanket, cushions, cuddly toy, beanbag.

New backpack and lunchbox for school. Clothes which I wouldnt usually buy like the character hoodie or fun onesies.

A box of all her favourite treats.

Also maybe get the smyths catalogue, he might see a few things that catch his eye. We have a yearly tradition of reading it together with a hot chocolate the evening it comes through the door. (My eldest is nearly 13 now so doesn't see much anymore but loved doing it at 7!)

My seven year old has asked for
Bakugan
Treasure X monster gold
Mario Lego
Gravitrax expansion sets
Treasure X Dino dissection
Treasure X monster lab
Labyrinth
Flip slide

Really hard to say without knowing what he's into? All my children have varied so widely with their interests and hobbies at the same ages. Best to stick them in front of the Smyts/Argos catalogue and let them tell you what they want.

My three year old is fairly easily pleased and will be overwhelmed with too much, so shes getting very hungry caterpillar bits, lego duplo, books and a yoto player.

Depending how big you want your big present I highly recommend the switch my DS7 adores it and it’s great as we can play it as a family as well.
This year he has asked for a new scooter as his big item and a slushie machine. Other bits we have got him are Pokémon, mario figured and playsets. Bath bombs, joke books. And upgrades of things we would normally buy so themes towels, onesies etc

DS just turned 8 is getting for Christmas loves reading, so loads of books bought, a watch, ice cream maker, uno 360,

Hits for birthday and last Christmas we're beano subscription, hype backpack and water bottle for school, diabolo, stomp rocket, aerobie, blokus game and a video camera.

He also loves games - battle Sheep, labyrinth, ghost treasure hunters

Books he loves are dogman, treehouse series, Tom gates, and diary of a wimpy kid.

How about something completely off the he wall like a kids metal detector

mamabluestar · 03/10/2021 23:57

My DS, who is now 10, still loves getting his Beano subscription. For the last couple of years he has really enjoyed getting a smasher egg and will be getting another this year. He loves card games with Uno, top trumps and monopoly deal being his favourite. Shut the box has been a hit too.

I find the Christmas bargains thread and the Product Review FB group really useful for finding out those things that both him and me didn't know existed

GoldStarAngel · 04/10/2021 20:26

My ds is slightly older but other than wanting an x box he wants moon shoes, WWE figures and board games

Some good ideas here.
Ds is 7 and asking for lego, playmobil, imaginext stuff, board games, where's wally book.
Stocking I'm thinking Top trumps, super hero figures, mug, sweets, uno, joke book.

daisydalrymple · 13/10/2021 09:47

Dc3 turns 7 in a couple of weeks. He’s hoping to get the RC Lego train. He’d also like the Lego minecraft pig house, which my sis has kindly agreed to.
For Christmas he’s asked for a science lab set (think it’s by galt), a microscope, which helpfully on Amazon is ‘frequently sold with’ 😂 an usbirne book on microscopes and extra slides to view, and he’d like a telescope. Our house is already fit to bursting, so I won’t be veering off this list. Any extras off us will be along the lines of minecraft onesie etc, as mentioned by pp; branded items of things he needs.

Stocking is mostly done, he’s got a pop open space pencil case from next, novelty pens, a Dino egg bath bomb and space nuggets bath bombs, Dino socks, an alien notebook and some Dino marker pens. He’s dairy intolerant so will have a tube of Pringles and marshmallows.

Loving the metal detector idea thanks!
