Am posting here rather than craft as thinking maybe lovely reader of the. Christmas thread do this ?

I am wondering the optimum "paper/thin card weight" is to make crackers with so they are firm enough to hold shape and contents but easy enough to roll to get a very good finish ?

I have some 190 gsm card and it is too thick

I can't get to a store so need to buy online and don't want to buy lots of stuff that I won't use

Thanks

Years ago I bought a cracker making kit that was quite good. Means you get the right stuff and not too much.

I also agree with cracker making kits. Alternatively I have (with the kids) rolled wrapping paper, or crepe paper around toilet roll tubes. You can still put in a snap and and pull them.

M&S and John Lewis both have good kits

I ssve pringles tubes, clean them and cut off the open end (it's a bit sharp). Then cut them in half around the middle.
Fill.
Roll in a sheet of wrapping paper, glue along the length, then tie bows at each end.
When you pull them, because the tube itself is separated in the middle, it rips open really easily.

I'd tried loo roll tubes with crepe paper, and all sorts, but as they're gathered at the end (the bit you pull) they're actually too strong to break!

Not sure I'm making myself very clear Grin

And because Pringles tunes are wide, I can put in gloves or a hat, a funny pen (too long for loo rolls), funky rubbers etc. They're quite generous.

I'm not in the UK, so I can't buy a kit especially not the banger.

Thank you all

I have the template I want to use - just wanted a certain weight of card

I will look at the kits again
