Advent calendar for travelling

Is there such a thing as a small, robust advent calendar that can be taken with you when travelling?

DH is taking DS away from 18-23 December. It would be nice if he could take his advent calendar with him.

How old is your DS?

I bought one of these as a special Christmas card for a friend last year. Traditional type, picture behind each window. It's in a card format so you could write a message inside

When we went away just before Xmas we took a "holiday advent calender" which was actually four envelopes to cover the days we were away (we had an item in bit you could put choc in). Would that work? I can't imagine most advent calendars surviving being packed.

It’s a very pretty card but I know DS will expect chocolate

I like the envelope idea.

Just buy one of the chocolate ones if he will want chocolate. They are just a bit bigger than an a4 sheet so can't take up too much space.

Advent candle?

When we were away for a week in December visiting the grandparents we had a small fabric bag with us and the necessary amount of wrapped chocolate like little coins, Lindt bear etc . So each evening we filled it and each morning the bag was at the breakfast table ready to be eaten.

Could you clarify why it wouldn't be possible to just take a regular chocolate advent calendar? DS would open the first 17/18 ones at home then the next 5 whilst away?

Because I’ve tried it before and the calendar ended up battered. It’s got to be taken to Spain and back.

If they are as cheap in Spain as they are here wouldn't it make sense just to buy another in Spain?

Do you mean a commercial one or would a fabric refillable one do?

How about something like this? Remove the relevant sacks and send them with him, with a little gift or chocolate in each?

I really like that one @degsydoodoos. DS is mainly about the chocolate, so it would be well used in subsequent years.

We travelled the last two Christmases and just took our chocolate advent calendars in with our luggage.

We have fabric numbered bags from Etsy and they comfortably hold chocolate coins and a note or small treat like a hot wheels car/scrunchie/money/nail polish/mini aftershave/miniature of alcohol etc (spot the gender and age ranges if my recipients!)
