Just realised I have no Christmas cards. Where can I get some from where the charity actually gets the money?

I am looking to support cancer charities and the NSPCC. TIA.

Can you buy them from their websites? Or I get my cards from the charity Xmas cards at my local church, so I know the money goes directly to that charity.

What if you buy from one of tehir shops? Was going to get some Cancer Research ones in town tomorrow.

Niecie · 06/12/2007 14:11

This is Macmillan

Once you order from them you are on their mailing list, I think, and get the catalogue every year which is useful.

mummypig · 06/12/2007 14:12

Marie Curie have real and e-cards on their website and a way of making a single donation online too. I know this because I put it in our school newsletter this week . Other charities probably have a similar setup.

This is the NSPCC

They also send you a catalogue once on the mailing list.

These people have stalls locally you can go to for all sorts of charities

Niecie · 06/12/2007 14:16

Sorry, should have said, my last post is probably the same organisation that EffiePerine goes to as they often have stalls in churchs, village halls, museums etc.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 06/12/2007 14:19

go to charity shops, they'll sell their own cards there. don't buy from high street shops, charity's cut is pitiful.

card aid or cards for good causes shops are often set up in churches so check there too, you might find some of the smaller charities have cards there too, they don't get much of a look in otherwise.

Twirl · 06/12/2007 15:14

I bought mine from NSPCC website - shipping was really quick.

NAB3littlemonkeys · 06/12/2007 16:59

Nothing on the NSPCC website so I rang and I am too late to buy them.

Other ideas?

NAB - if you go to my link of Thu 06-Dec-07 14:15:13, it brings up the website where you can go and get the cards in person. There is a button to see which is your nearest outlet. They are usually in town centres but not in shops and a large proportion of the proceeds go to the charities (not pennies like M&S and WHS). One of their member charities is NSPCC.

chocolatespiders · 06/12/2007 17:31

my daughter wanted some in next last week, when i looked at the pack 25 p from £3.00 went to charity which is dreadful, she had to put them back till we find more charitable ones

janeite · 06/12/2007 17:33

Oxfam have very nice cards and as far as I know, all profits go to Oxfam, not just a cut.

WHEELYbahhumBUG · 06/12/2007 17:34

I go to the same thing that Neicie recommends - really worth it - lots of different charities and the knowledge that the charities will actually see most of hte money (80p in the £).

NAB3littlemonkeys · 06/12/2007 17:39

Which thread Niecie please?

OP posts:
isaidhohoho · 06/12/2007 17:40

Why don't you buy cards from wherever you like (cheaper if you want), then make a donation to your chosen charity? Then you can decide how much they get.

Pollyanna · 06/12/2007 17:42

get them direct from the website - I got some Macmillan ones this year and they are still available afaik

NAB3littlemonkeys · 06/12/2007 17:53

Do you know the address please? Typed in macmillan and got a publishers site.
