Why am I finding it so difficult to buy High School Musical 1 on DVD?

My 6 year old DD's have recently informed me that they are the ONLY girls in their class who haven't got this DVD and they can't join in the girlie conversations about Troy and Henrietta, or whoever they are. .

So, being a nice mummy (sometimes), and not wishing them to be social lepers in the classroom, as I was in 1979 when my parents refused to take me to see Grease, I decided I would get it as part of their Christmas pressies.

But I can't find it. HSM 2 is everywhere but not much point in buying that if they haven't seen the first one.

Anyone see it anywhere? I have even checked on-line and Amazon have only got a USA version.

High School Musical Remix Edition

This seems to be the first movie but just has bonus features the original dvd release didn't have. They also have it at hmv and WH Smith.

Just checked play.com but it is out of stock.

BTW, def possible to see HSM2 even if not seen HSM1. Nothing in storyline of HSM1 that they need to know really.

Do you need a region 2 DVD or can your DVD play region 2? They have region 1 available on Amazon.

I managed to get the remix edition from woolworths. I was rather confused about it all as I know nothing about the craze...and couldnt find anything called high school musical 1.

Thanks for messages. Maybe that's the problem, I was looking for the 1 on the front, it's obviously not there is it, unlike the 2! And the remixes and the updates all had me a bit .

Not sure about regions for my DVD player hula.

Chilimama - thanks, I've just ordered it from that Tesco Jersey link. And Polar Express to watch on Christmas Eve. There should be two happy DD's in the house. 20 quid for the two of them delivered, bargain.

Done better than me on PJ front then. Have tried Next, Asda and M&S and can't get age 6-7y for DD at all. Next even phones up warehouse and none in. And her age 5-6y are getting quite short now. We normally have new PJs for Christmas Eve so going to have to face Meadowhall one day for a run and grab session - just need to be feeling a bit more up to it.

Oh what a shame Hula. My girls are very tall for their age (nearly 7), so I got them 9-10. They had HSM slippers in my local Tesco yesterday, didn't see PJ's though.
