We've decided to 'adopt a family' for Christmas this year. We'll be filling a hamper for a local family who will probably not be having a great Christmas this year. The family we've adopted are a single mother, with three sons, aged 4,6 and 15. We can put anything in the hamper apart from alcohol, cigarettes and money. Also no perishable foods. So if you were/ are on hard times, what would you like to see in a gifted Xmas hamper?

Chocolate biscuits
Chocolate sauce (for pouring on icecream)
Instant hot chocolate drink
Tea bags/nice coffee
Olive oil
Jam/preserves

Perhaps some nice bubble bath?

Oh yes, and canned and/or dried fruit.

As an afterthought,

The company DH works for used to collect cans of food from all their employees every year and distribute to families having a hard time. They always specified no canned fish. I have no idea why. Can anyone enlighten me.

how much are you spending?

if you have enough i would put in a decent coffee, nice biscuits, an xmas pud, crackers, box of chocs, party poppers

possibly some nice smellys for mum - no doubt she will have spent all money on kids and none on herself
