Christmas eve drinks party

This year we will be having a later afternoon Christmas eve drinks party. Probably around 8-10 people only.

So far I can only think of smoked salmon blinis and mustard and honey cocktail sausages to cook. What are your go-to nibbles? We have no dietary issues but one vegetarian.

Thanks in advance!

Mary Berry's cheese souffle bites. Very easy, and work really well. You can also half-make them in advance, freeze them and bake them on the day.

Asparagus wrapped in Parma ham, roasted briefly and a drizzle of a balsamic reduction.

Small rounds of brioche with pulled pork. I use Aldi’s small brioche rolls and cut them into bite size slices

And of course a cheese hedgehog

Mini pizzas - buy puff pastry, cut into rounds (bite sized), smear on tomato purée and add toppings. Can do veggie, boring and more adventurous to suit. Few minutes in the oven and serve warm.

Mini vegetable spring rolls dipped in either sweet chili or hoisin sauce.

Sainsburys food to order platters can be picked up on Xmas eve, saves faffing about the day before Xmas.

Buy filo pastry, cut into little squares, pop whatever you fancy into the centre (Brie and cranberry is good and festive), then pull the corners up so it makes a little package. 5 mins in oven.

shortbread
mince pies
Finnish spiced biscuits

It's Christmas Eve!

One bite nibbles with no waste bits are best i find

served warm
roasted new potatoes with rosemary salt (do twice as many as you think you'll need!)
honey mustard roasted quorn cocktail sausages- (ditto above -very moreish)
mini stilton and walnut scones- have little butter curls ready to pop on when they are served, or serve them cold and buttered

cold
halved /quartered fig with dolcelatte
spiced nuts-nigella has a good recipe
cheese black pepper /paprika shortbread rounds

i'm obviously a cheese fan Grin

I would make lots of just a few things to keep it simple for hosting, then you can enjoy the evening and not be making kitchen dashes all evening

I'd also have a fruit platter to pick at

Mini quiches are popular here (vegetarian) as are olives with a cube of feta on a cocktail stick, cheese & pineapple, nuts (we love honey roasted cashews)

Gougere is lovely, and non-messy to eat. Can’t say I’ve ever tried making it, but I gather it’s not difficult.

Ooh tempting!

I might do a mix and match of food platters bought in and some of the other suggestions. Lovely!
