Treating myself to an advent calendar - any advice?

Last year I treated myself to a yankee candle advent calendar. I enjoyed it as it was very different.

Can anyone recommend any good calendars I could look at for this year? I'm not bothered by make-up, toiletries or chocolate ones (which I'm aware rules most out).

Bonne Maman jams?

I'm also looking at some yarn ones...

I'd like a really nice cheese one. Most of the ones I have seen repeat the same boring cheeses though.

These would be good. I do felting as well, but I just know this year I wouldn't have time for them - but certainly an option for next year

Bonne Maman jams?
That is different and a good idea, but I'm not the biggest jam fan unfortunately.

The biscuit one is utterly gorgeous to look at.

Depends what you are into really, think there are loads this year:
Plants (very expensive)
Lovehoney
Socks
Pork Crackling
Friends
Popcorn
Pringles
Beer
Candles
Gardening
Wedgewood (for the super rich)
Marshmallows
Wine
Whisky
Gin
Tea

I seriously want the Space NK one. I'd be happy with any of them to be fair. I treat myself when I was diagnosed with breast cancer a few years back and it was lush having a daily treat.

paisley256 · 21/09/2021 15:49

Oops soz I just read you don't want beauty! Think I'm getting obsessed.

ooh I like this one, but maybe for next year. I have some proper little German smoking ornaments.

I'm planning on scaling back Christmas this year (pregnant and due end Nov) and just don't think I'll be bothered/have time to get everything out this year...but perfect for next year I think.

Whatever you do, don’t get the House of Fraser offering!!

(Brilliant thread from a few years ago in Classics, I’ll try to find the link for you)

Dipsydoodlenoodle · 22/09/2021 10:19

I've had a look at all the suggestions above, some good ideas that I hadn't considered, or even knew existed. Although I totally want the Wedgewood one (maybe if I win the lottery).

@paisley256, it's not necessarily that I don't want beauty stuff, but a lot of it comes with creams which I never use. I'm not against it, but it wasn't my preference. I think it's lovely to have a little treat each day in December - which is why I wanted a nice treat advent calendar again Smile haha. I'm not massively into candles, but I did enjoy my candle treats last year.

I’m pondering a Treatbox one for similar reasons - need a treat, don’t want beauty, food, booze etc. www.treatboxuk.com/products/treatbox-advent-calendar-2021-pay-full-total-today?_pos=3&_sid=f987f27be&_ss=r

Do you know what kind of treats you get?

EvilHerbivore · 22/09/2021 10:57

Degusta box one? I got one last year and thought it was good value

I8toys · 22/09/2021 10:59

I got Degustabox for this year. Excited by this one.
