Hi,

Completely stuck as what to get for my 14 Dd for christmas…
So far I have on her list decent headphones that’s it😳
She is not a girly girl … no interest in make up or anything like that, she is very rock grunge I couldn’t care less…partial to hoodies, baggy combats rock T-shirt’s and biker boots lol. She is very artsy… loves to draw, digital, animation etc…. Plus likes Xbox gaming and listening to rock teen angst music..
She has a drawing tablet, Xbox, various DM’s loads of clothes, record player, a decent laptop and phone already so pretty stuck as what else is I can get her?
So all suggestions Ideas greatly welcomed and appreciated?

I've got a very similar 13yo. I'm starting to think that anything we get her will be 'just for the sake of it' so a waste of money. She had tickets to Harry Potter last year which went down very well, but I don't think she'd appreciate the same 2 years running.
Added to that, I'll have to think of something from each set of grandparents (around the £50 budget). She's very very lucky to have lots of savings, so money as a gift doesn't feel special enough.

I'm going to have another think for experiences she might like.

SlatternIsMyMiddleName · 19/09/2021 17:40

EMP is good for grungy clothing. Other than tech I’m not sure what 14 year olds want. I have one too.

lazylinguist · 19/09/2021 17:50

My 16yo dd sounds like a carbon copy of yours! Her main present from us will probably be a Spotify premium subscription. Not very exciting to open on the day, but she'll be delighted! Other presents in recent times have included a new upgraded drawing tablet, Etsy vouchers to buy funky jewellery and sequinned DM boots.

lazylinguist · 19/09/2021 17:52

Another smaller thing she likes is graphic art books based on the design of films etc that she likes.

Ricekrispie22 · 19/09/2021 17:56

Art supplies subscription box

SarahBellam · 19/09/2021 17:57

Give her the cash and a few token presents if things she needs anyway - pants, socks, pyjamas, some chocs, etc.). This is the age they start wanting to go out with friends and a few hundred to spend in Flying Tiger, Hollister and Costa is always welcome.

Ricekrispie22 · 19/09/2021 17:57

DSLR camera

severusvape · 19/09/2021 20:02

Oodie
Cuddle cushion - dunelm
Kindle
Bedroom accessories
Camera
Bag
Laptop lap tray
Driving experience

OhFortheLoveOv · 19/09/2021 20:05

Thanks guys, it’s so tricky was way easier when she was little.

@Ricekrispie22 : ooh not considered a DSLR but could be right up here street, and subscription box for Art stuff sounds like a good idea too will have a google as not really heard of one.

@lazylinguist : Know what you mean Dd got one an Apple Music subscription for her birthday and nothing much to open but was thrilled lol

@SlatternIsMyMiddleName: EMP think my Dd would like shares in the place.

@SarahBellam: grandparents and other family members give the grandkids cash to spend on stuff in my Dd’ s it’d usually clothes and art stuff

@Gazelda: Dd loved the zipworld and alpaca walk we did this summer so experiences may be way to go, though need to think of one

I thought about a velvetiser from hotel choc for her room as she loves mine, but as already have one in house seems pointless

Keep ideas coming

Thanks

There's manga of the nightmare before xmas if she's into that

High top trainers like converse, vans, new rock boots are good.

Cds, vinyls, dvds if there's any particular ones she wants. (Metallica has their 30th anniversary of the black album coming out - that could be a hit if into that sorts thing)

Tickets to a gig

Framed poster

Zavvi.com and emp clothing are great for merch and clothing etc

Disney villains bath toiletry stuff like bath bombs and things loads in the boots 3 for 2 options. Likewise some cool disney villain stuff on the shopdisney website.

Cherryrainbow · 19/09/2021 20:10

Also if she shops places like blue banana, feel free to ask a member of staff for ideas, what's popular atm or if she's a regular, what she has had her eye on. I used to work there and loved making suggestions to parents etc. Around Xmas and birthday times x

Thehogfatherstolemycurry · 19/09/2021 20:16

Mine sounds very similar. She's asked for Nightmare before Christmas boots, a multi pack of canvasses, alcohol markers and some clothes from EMP. I'll have a look on zavvi and pick up a few anime bits, etsy are quite good for little different things too.

Kindlethefourth · 19/09/2021 21:55

Mine loves gifts which are the complete opposite to the type of clothing she wears out of the house so anything soft and snuggly-dressing gowns, pyjamas/hoodies and slippers. Heated throws went down a storm last year with DDs as does the soap and glory huge box of bathroom products from boots each year. Amazon Alexa (can't remember the name but the ones with screens-echo show?) was a huge recent hit. New bedding/cushions. Good skincare?

Kindlethefourth · 19/09/2021 21:57

Oh and DD1 bought herself a Polaroid camera recently. Am told the cartridges can be brought fairly cheaply online.

moocowmrs · 19/09/2021 22:00

I bought my teen a Cricut machine last Christmas arty and crafty lots of fun.

user64325 · 19/09/2021 22:03

She sounds like my daughter, who doesn't want or need a main Christmas present this year. She's had an expensive run of presents the last several birthdays and Christmas's (Nintendo Switch, iPad and apple pencil for Procreate, mobile phone, laptop) so I'm glad she doesn't need/want anything like that. She has sent me a wish list from Shein, lots of grungy clothes and hats etc. And I'm thinking of getting her a bean bag and a Blacklight for her room. She has chalkboard walls so I think it would look great.

Herecomesthesun70 · 19/09/2021 22:22

What gig tickets? Bands are touring again

StrangeAddiction · 20/09/2021 00:04

Dd is into K-pop so wants lots of merch.
Clothes
Pandora/nomination/jewellery
Stranger Things/Umbrella academy merch
Little mix/ Ed sheeran/Dua Lipa concert tickets

Tooembarrassingtomention · 20/09/2021 00:33

14 onwards is cash or the very very specific items that they ask for

FearlessSwiftie · 20/09/2021 12:50

Arts&crafts supplies or gift card of a store she gets the supplies from. Could also be some software if she needs that, maybe a professional slideshow maker or a digital collage creator or a photo editing app for pc that isn't too pricey. Think about portable chargers, too, here is a list of good ones. This stuff could be a true lifesaver.
If you know what bands she likes in particular, looking into their merch or band-related products could be worthy. if getting original merch is not an option, then maybe pick the pictue of the musician(s) or their album cover and print it on a t-shirt or a hoodie.

Youranus · 20/09/2021 13:53

An electric guitar and amp?

snugglyblanket · 20/09/2021 13:59

Our 13yo gets theatre tickets as her main present (not London prices) we make a day of it, adding in a bit of shopping and lunch somewhere nice.
Other things that have gone down well in the last couple of years are a Scrawlrbox subscription, foreign food hampers, an Oodie, a Sprocket, stuff for her room, cute stickers & post-its, colourful pens & washi tape (she loves bullet journaling).
This year it is all Friends (I managed to get her the Lego Friends Central Perk set on a great deal several months ago for her birthday), Once Upon A Time and Stranger Things. I might upgrade our Spotify account again this year as she has her own playlist now & uses it a lot.

Would she like something like an escape room or high ropes course? We have a local outdoor activities centre, they do segways, archery, falconry, etc. if you have something like that near you, you might find something she'd like. A zookeeper day if she has a favourite animal. Maybe voucher for a local milkshake shop? Bowling? Cinema? Laser tag? A keepsake necklace or charm bracelet perhaps (she might not wear it now but save it).
