How Christmas is too Christmas?

I decorate the house including tree and outside lights, have a Christmas jumper as do the kids (as well as other Christmas clothes including PJs), and read Christmas books to them throughout December. We have (chocolate) advent calendars and a Christmas puzzle that gets an airing each year.

I always thought that, as far as Christmas "stuff" goes, Christmas bed linen was a step too far. I have had a complete mind change on this and am absolutely 100% getting Christmas themed bed linen for myself and kids this year.

Just browsing and noticed that you can get Christmas themed crockery... again feel this is a step too far (would you only use it on Xmas day?) Does anyone have it and it brings them joy? What Christmas themed objects do you have that may seem a step too far for other people?

We have a Christmas shower curtain... bright red with a cartoony rudolph on it... 1st December... bring it on!

I'm contemplating Christmas cushions this year Grin

My problem is I'm too anal to use anything Christmas themed outside of the month of December. I think it comes down to storage space, I couldn't fit a whole second set of crockery for example.

StarryStarrySocks · 19/09/2021 15:57

I have a Christmas mug that I use throughout December.

YukoandHiro · 19/09/2021 15:58

This is all too Christmas for me and I consider myself very Christmassy 😂

Watto1 · 19/09/2021 15:58

I’ve got a Father Christmas toilet lid cover. Usually I hate toilet covers full stop, but it’s acceptable in the downstairs loo in December!

MsSquiz · 19/09/2021 15:59

We have:

Christmas lights on our giant tree outside and along the guttering on the house

Christmas bedding - ours is now 3 years old and is used for the whole of December

Some piece of Christmas crockery (star and Christmas tree shaped) that I put the roses/heroes/celebrations in or other nibbles when guests are round. Also festive charger plates, table cloth, placemats etc. They come out at the start of December

We do Christmas jumpers/dresses & festive pyjamas worn throughout the festive period (pjs worn all year round)

Snowflake stickers on some of the windows & DD has her own little felt Christmas tree and decorations

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 19/09/2021 16:00

DDs have Christmas bedding. We bought it when they were two and 9 months old (although we didn't use it for the baby that year). They will be 10&8yo this year and its been used every year so far.

I quite fancy getting polar bears or penguins for myself...

SalsaLove · 19/09/2021 16:00

I’m getting Christmassy dish towels for the kitchen 🤷‍♀️

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 19/09/2021 16:00

We have Christmas mugs but use them all year.

WoozySnoozy · 19/09/2021 16:01

Where do you store it all when it is not Christmas?

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2021 16:02

I swap out all of our crockery on December 1st, including mugs, serving bowls and so on. I have almost an entire Spode Christmas tree set. I also have tea towels, cruet set, placemats and so on. Oh and two tablecloths and cushions but I made them myself.

loopylindi · 19/09/2021 16:02

As a confirmed 'Christmas-o-phile' if there is such a thing, I do love all the decorations (of which we have over 2000), lights, bling, table decs, banister swags and so on. We have themed rooms - one is decorated with decs that are like childrens toys/lights with snowmen shades and so on. One is set up as an ice cave - all blue, white and silver with giant fluffy snowballs hanging from ceiling wires, a white tree and clear glass baubles like giant bubbles. The dining room is more 'adult' with gold, green and touches of red with very full swags down the staircase. The main lounge is a 7ft tree totally dripping in decorations inc those from around the world so it's a trip down memory lane to holidays we've had.
I know our relatives think it's a bit OTT but we love it. Incidently there are no rope lights or decs anywhere

@WoozySnoozy

In the garage or in the loft.
Neonplant · 19/09/2021 16:03

As much Christmas as you want. Nothing wrong with having joy in your life!

Mermaidpool · 19/09/2021 16:06

Hand towels
Mugs
Toilet seat cover
Little stockings that go on the table legs
Tea towels
Plates, stored in loft rest of the year

ShowOfHands · 19/09/2021 16:06

The Spode Christmas's Tree collection if people are unfamiliar.

I've got a few Portmeirion Christmas things too.

Me too
MoreAloneTime · 19/09/2021 16:10

I must admit that Spode collection is gorgeous.

livingthegoodlife · 19/09/2021 16:11

Embroidered hand towels for bathrooms, reindeer & father Christmas (I also have Easter ones!). And a reindeer bathmat.

VivaJen · 19/09/2021 16:12

We're pretty Christmassy, I've got a huge collection of Spode Christmas Tree that is used for the whole of December (stored in the loft)

Christmas cushions come out for December and last year I bought some red & white throws for the sofa.

I say go with what makes you happy 🎄

PaperDolphin · 19/09/2021 16:13

@WoozySnoozy

Loft, with the decorations. Before we had a loft we had much less and it was stored in the hall cupboard.

Always have had Christmas crockery and glassware, and christmas napkins.

Never had the bedding or soft furnishings though! Would draw the line at that.
