Does anyone know where I can get a Robin (the bird) costume for dd? Spent yesterday trawling the internet to no avail (nowt on ebay except Batman and Robin Hood!), I can't sew (well, I can adapt existing stuff but I couldn't make from scratch) and I need it for the 20th!

If anyone can offer any advice that would be wonderful....

Buy a brown top and trousers and sew a big red oval (maybe felt) onto the top. Matalan have brown leggings for £2.50 (my DD is a tree!). If you can't be bothered to sew stick the red on with textile glue.

Cheers guys!

Bigdonna, I've looked at woolies online and they didn't have anything - will try the shop once I'm out of work - ta for the tip.

Goingfor3 - thanks for the tip re. leggings, I haven't seen any brown tops but if all else fails I'm considering buying a Rudolf/Christmas pudding cossie and sticking the red felt circle on the front, then cutting off the antlers/holly and putting the peak of a yellow baseball cap beneath the hood bit - so leggings will go brilliantly!

I'm sure my nursery must trawl the shops beforehand looking for the 1 costume that's not available and then tell us all that's what we must provide... last year it was angels and there were none to be had anywhere - thankfully I could improvise with a cheap sheet and curtain cord!

:O

Thank you, thank you, thank you, goingfor3!!!

Spent the morning in Romford yesterday - Matalan had the brown leggings AND an orange baseball cap for a quid, Babygap had a brown hoodie in a near-identical shade for £7.50 (which for the Gap is good going), one circle of cheap red satin and a bit of felt from t'market later... et voila! We have our robin!

I may even post a photo up, I'm quite chuffed with my handiwork (although I fear the beak is a bit like a duck...)

Thanks again - Mumsnet is fab!!!
