Christmas (non-alcoholic) drinks

Hello all,

I am thinking ahead and would like to have a nice selection of non-alcoholic drinks in for the festivities. We always have Shloer so that will be a definite, but can anyone else recommend their favourites too please?

Since giving up drinking booze, one of the things I miss is a nice wine with a cheese board so if you can make some recommendations for an alternative then that would also be much appreciated.

Thank you.

Personally I like fizzy fruit waters.

The co-op did a really nice raspberry one last year that looked really festive.

I discovered a lovely one in Lidl - if you like aperol spritz type flavours , called 'aperitivo' alcohol free. Comes in lovely small glass bottles and tastes like booze!

I like alcohol free martini vibrante with tonic (martini on sale at Sainsburys atm). Also citrus and normal seedlip. I thought Gordon’s alcohol free was awful as gin but it mixed well with grapefruit juice and soda wigh dash of lime juice. And Cedar another good alcohol free “spirit” . Also look at Bitters, I bought all different flavours and then I make up a weak juice/sparkling water combo and add a dash of bitters.

I really like Dash Sparkling waters. The Raspberry one is my favourite. I've also had a nice alcohol-free gin and tonic from Eden Mill in Aldi. Not sure about a wine alternative but there are loads of recipes for nice mulled punches

Clementine fever tree tonic

clpsmum · 15/09/2021 20:17

Fever tree rise lemonade is lovely xxxx

San Pelligrinio do flavoured fizzy drinks. I’ve had the lemon one and blood orange. They’re quite nice to mix with fruit juice to make mocktails.

Ooh lovely! Lots for me to try. Thank you all.

As pp said, San Pellegrino or Teisseire syrups.

Etinox · 15/09/2021 21:14

Mulled wine alternative is hot apple juice with grated ginger. Absolutely delicious and has a real kick.

Bananaman123 · 15/09/2021 21:41

virgin mojito, j20, pink lady apple juice might be good with cheese, cabbies raspberry ginger ale

PurpleDaisies · 15/09/2021 21:46

I like a lot of the alcohol free beers and lagers. Becks blue, peroni libera and San Miguel 0% are all regulars here.

BadgeronaMoped · 15/09/2021 21:52

MIL always serves me hot Bottle Green Spiced Berry cordial. It's quite a good mulled wine substitute!

lachy · 15/09/2021 21:53

A couple of my friends are tee total and have started drinking Nozecco. I think you can get it in most supermarkets.

I also quite like the Fentimans soft drinks, they feel quite "grown up as opposed to a Pepsi Max!

I can see me needing a spare fridge for all these suggestions. Grin

Are the gins mentioned above alcohol free or low alcohol?

iabvvu · 16/09/2021 00:36

The glitter berry J2Os! Such fun

Poppins17 · 16/09/2021 19:54

Another vote for San Pelligrino - I like the blood orange one at Christmas

Stompythedinosaur · 16/09/2021 20:11

I like elderflower cordial with sparkling water.

Spiced apple juice is a lovely alternative to spiced cider.

chesirecat99 · 16/09/2021 20:44

Nosecco is lovely and will go well with a cheeseboard, although you wouldn't mistake it for the real thing, unlike alcohol free beers that taste almost the same as alcoholic beer. San Pellegrino San Bitter Aperitif and Crodino are amazing, the same as Aperol but without the alcohol.

I love a good virgin cocktail. The Monin cocktail syrups are amazing, both for cocktails or just with soda water. I love the bitters and violet ones.

The seedlip/cedar/Gordon’s are no alcohol. The bitters do contain alcohol but you would use two or three drops in a large glass. So I was happy having those when pregnant even tho’ I avoided alcohol.

Sainsbury’s do a lovely AF Mulled Wine which I’d really recommend.
