If you find one can you send the details to my dad? He is very sweet and sends us one every year at great expense but they seem overpriced for what you get (and the quality of the stuff isn't fantastic) [ungrateful emoticon]

fairydust · 04/12/2007 17:11

m&s

kerryk · 04/12/2007 17:12

have you tried lakeland, have not used them myself but know someone who has.

MerlinsBeard · 04/12/2007 17:12

you could always buy the things seperatly and post out yourself if you don't find one?

Tamum · 04/12/2007 17:13

How much do you want to spend? Valvona and Crolla in Edinburgh do fabulous hampers.

NappiesLaGloriainexcelsis · 04/12/2007 17:16

lol satsuma

am looking at m&s now fairydust... quite posh lookin but not really overly taken with the content

not looked at lakeland yet, will do

MoM - if i do that, they may wait till 2010!

tamum - ta, will check that out...

i did turn one up on google called scottish hampers but think it was more for sending a taste of scotland to elsewhere really.

I don't think this is a direct link but it should take you to hampers. They really are not cheap though I now realise! Also I forgot to ask if they liked Italian food. Jenners might be worth a try too, but I should think that will also be very much "a taste of Scotland".

ILiveinhope · 04/12/2007 17:21

www.smoked-salmon.co.uk/ we got this last Christmas from Dp's Gran and it was fantastic.

We got one from my Dad and Step mom today from M&S and to tell the truth I was really disappointed .

ILiveinhope · 04/12/2007 17:24

this is the one we got, Totally delicious, but was too much for two people.

NappiesLaGloriainexcelsis · 04/12/2007 17:32

i really like the look of the italian ones tamum... am comparing content/price with fortnum and mason...

but that smoked salmon co looks like a really good one - you seem to get so much in them! and luxury stuff you wouldnt normally buy yourself too, which is kinda the pooint, eh?

i was thinking Valvona too Tamum.

Joash · 04/12/2007 18:07

WHy not make up your own? We do one for DH's parents (sadly there's only his mum this year), selecting local produce and 'special' or luxury items that they'd like but never think about buying. We also add an item that they've never had before (always been strictly meat & veg people). They love it.

kerryk · 04/12/2007 18:28

the salmon one looks lovely, i think i will order it for my parents.

we have already bought them a gift voucher for lunch at gleneagles but it does not look like much sitting under the tree, the gleneagles vouchers are also a lovely gift if anyone is interested the website is here

NappiesLaGloriainexcelsis · 04/12/2007 18:34

joash, theres too many to make and i worry i wont get it all together in time. much better to send one, then you know at least theyll get something this millenium. but youre right, is lovely idea

mozzybearandwine · 04/12/2007 19:40

These aren't too bad

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 04/12/2007 19:55

Fortnums are dirt cheap. You could send a couple.

Flibbertinseljinglebells · 04/12/2007 20:04

Pmsl duchessofnorks

My sis always sends us chocexpress, now renamed hotel chocolat. ( I hide parcels from her in my wardrobe and snaffle the contents when alone in the house )

From teeny weeny up to mahoosive choc and champers fests. So tell me who wants salmon when choccy is available? And who the hell sends salmon to scotland?? (coals to Newcastle anyone?)

TheDuchessOfNorksBride · 04/12/2007 20:14

I love Hotel Chocolat. Those huge slabs (now copied everywhere) and the fruit truffle things. Or the hot chocolate stirring things. Mmmmmmmmmm.
