I'm completely out of ideas for my 27 month old! So far I've bought:

A few lift the flap/sensory books
Peppa pig play mat with car
2 mini peppa pig jigsaw puzzles
2 soft plushy toys

She loves peppa pig but I need to ween her off it as she's obsessed Blush and I don't want to buy any more big toys that get in the way/get thrown around/climbed on and not played with. Her main present is going to be a play kitchen.

What's on your list?

DD is getting a play kitchen too so I will also get some play food and pots, pans and utensils to go with it.
A playmobil bus
Duplo
Wooden train set

unexpectedthird · 13/09/2021 15:43

Smart Max is great - easy to store and quite open ended play wise.
Dressing up clothes are always successful too.
Stuff for cutting and sticking and colouring with.
A dustpan and brush - honestly you'd think I'd given them the moon.
Musical instruments - xylophone, tambourine, maracas etc.

PlantDoctor · 13/09/2021 15:45

We have a December birthday and Christmas to buy for, but between the two she'll likely be getting a play kitchen, a balance bike, books and next size of clothing, chunky threading beads, an aquadoodle and little bits and bobs like stickers and crayons in her stocking.

FireworkParrot · 13/09/2021 17:04

DD2 will be 2.5 at Christmas. On her list is:

Character PJs....Hey Duggee or Ben and Holly as I can't take much more Peppa Pig either!

Pop up pirate game

Little set of garden tools such as a trowel and watering can as she loves "helping" in the garden.

Karaoke microphone.

Something from the Jellycat amusable range.... I love the cuddy croissant!

Play tea set.

Melissa and Doug vet play kit.

More Schleich animals to add to the collection.

Redlorryyellowlorryblue · 13/09/2021 17:19

Micro Scooter is his main present. We already have a lot due to having a 5 year old as well.

Needingsupportplease · 13/09/2021 17:41

Following for ideas for my DD who will be 2 and ahalf at Christmas

BEE08 · 13/09/2021 17:44

DS will be just over 2 years and a half:

This is a rough list

Wooden train set
Small play kitchen
Wooden cut and play food
Scooter or balance bike - haven't decided which one yet
Small art box
Fireman Sam boat and people
Grimms building set
Build a bear voucher
Books
Orchard post office game and bug lotto

8dpwoah · 13/09/2021 17:51

We will have a new baby here too so I'm going to get them a tuff tray thing between them and we'll be suggesting to family to get role play/dressup stuff, and yet more Schleich animals. She's got a play shop/kitchen from her birthday so maybe something new to add into her kit for that as she plays with it for hours every day still.

Every time she has a present occasion I normally buy stickers and craft stuff for her to unwrap alongside her big present but most of the time she gets so much stuff from our quite large family I tend to end up putting that away for a rainy day. So this year I might not do that and will get her a book 'advent calendar' sorted instead.

Incywinceyspider · 13/09/2021 18:22

DS will be 2.3 at Christmas. So far I'm thinking:

  • play kitchen (probably the Aldi one)
  • Pots and pans etc
  • play food
  • wooden train set
  • orchard letterbox game
  • toot toot drivers track
  • books
  • new bath toys
  • playdoh

Then a stocking with seriously tiny bits in it like stickers and milky buttons.

SamprasTheRabbit · 13/09/2021 18:58

We do the four gift thing (I can't remember the blog, one day someone else will and I'll get the link again).
Something you want, something you need, something to wear and something to read. We're on a pretty tight budget and it stops me overspending when I feel guilty. One of those will be a 'big' present, probably a dolls's house. Aldi did one last year so hoping they do it again. She'll have gifts from family and a stocking and that's plenty for a toddler IMO, or they just get fatigued with it and the gifts lose their value.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/09/2021 21:25

She's asked for a double dolls pram and a fairy outfit with Wand so she'll get that. Then I've picked her up some sylvanian families as she loves her sisters and a few bits like sticker books, character toothbrush etc

Whydidimarryhim · 14/09/2021 07:04

Don’t wean her off peppy pig - she will grow out of it. 😇

Number109 · 14/09/2021 11:01

My youngest was 2.5 last Xmas and we bought her:

  • build a garden
  • bin lorry
  • pizza pizza orchard game
  • dinosaur water drawing
  • magnetic maze
  • scratch art
  • digger book
  • musical carousel

By far the most popular was the bin lorry followed by the water drawing. Orchard games are still popular here and pizza pizza is a good one for that age.

SamprasTheRabbit · 14/09/2021 11:23

Mine was an absolute nightmare at bedtime last night... might be on course for a lump of coal if that continues!

EcoCustard · 15/09/2021 06:38

Ds will be 2 years 8 months this year and has 3 older siblings close in ages so have some a decent amount of toys and games. He is getting-
More Duplo train track
Bruder truck/tractor ( always playing with db’s)
Orchard tractor match game (picked up in Lidl, bargain)
Usborne lift the flap or peep inside book
Will have a sticking with small car, colouring book, pens, chocolate Santa and a few other bits in too. Going for a less is more this year for a few reasons and partly because I am struggling with ideas.

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 15/09/2021 06:51

Mine will be 2.5 at Christmas. I feel like she has so much stuff already and struggling for ideas so going to keep it fairly low key. She will probably get some duplo or Happyland toys and role play/dressing up type toys.
I got her some sorting bears recently and she plays with those a lot, so that might be a good stocking filler for anyone looking for ideas.

Supergirl1958 · 15/09/2021 19:12

Thankyou for these great ideas. My DS is 2 3 weeks before Christmas and I need to double my efforts!!

KellyABC · 15/09/2021 19:20

People keep recommending Yotos to me. We don't have one so can't couch for it.

hiredandsqueak · 16/09/2021 21:42

Dgc will be two and a half at Christmas I've bought him the Playmobil 123 zoo as he loves the Ark and plays with it daily. This house because he loves keys and locks and probably pyjamas, clothes unless dd has any suggestions.

Lsquiggles · 06/10/2021 09:18

Thought I'd return to this thread with an update as I've done quite a bit of Christmas the past few weeks and have finished shopping for my daughter!

  • lift the flap/sensory books
  • mini peppa pig jigsaws (for stocking)
  • plush toys - whale and jellyfish from h&m
  • peppa pig play mat
  • Ikea kitchen and accessories (pots and pans, utensils and pretend cakes) - main/big present
  • Vtech Toot-Toot Cory Carson Remote Control Cory
  • busy board
  • little baby doll sets with varies accessories (for stocking)
  • peppa pig car

Has anyone else got any further with their shopping? Smile

My 2.5 year old DS loves the following:

Little toy postbox with letters to post, spends ages 'delivering' letters to everyone in the house

Puzzles

Any kind of flashcards with pictures and letters on and sorting them into piles

Threading beads (got some massive ones on Amazon that he can't fit in his mouth)

But then again, he loves nothing more than having a few potatoes to carry around in a bag/push around in a cart etc. So there will be a potato in his stocking if he's still keen Grin

CoffeeChocolateWine · 06/10/2021 09:49

My DD is 3 and I’m finding it a bit tricky as she’s my third child so we already have the big items such as play kitchen, toy shop, garden playhouse, balance bike, scooter etc and I don’t really have any desire to get any more ‘big’ things.

I’m planning to get her ‘Hope the rainbow husky’ as a main present but I’m hoping it will drop in price at some point! Will also get dressing up bits, glittery shoes as she always loves looking at them in shops, and some art and/or craft bits. She’s discovered My Little Pony and has fallen in love so maybe a cuddly character toy. I’ve got my eye on some lovely looking magnetic scene toys by Floss and Rock too.

I have started picking up a few stocking fillers (can never resist starting early!) I bought some cute hair clips in the Claire’s sale which have unicorn with long colourful tails, a small bag, twisty pet (she loves her sister’s ones!) and a hot chocolate bomb and a cute oodie-type thing for the Christmas Eve box (I wanted her to have something similar to her siblings).
