I think it would be really cool for Christmas but reviews are v mixed. Anyone got one?

I did for DS a few years ago. He thought it was great! He would have been 9 or 10. I got it on a Groupon deal but don't think it was much cheaper. £24.99 rings a bell.

I bought one in Aldi (or maybe Lidl) a few years ago. Hugely popular. Ds quickly worked out that he could make a fortune by leaving it out when relatives are visiting. He’s just not allowed fleece his school friends!!

I’m useless at it and would be convinced it’s faulty but ds can get the goodies out easily so the mixed reviews might be partly affected by user ability.

MeredithMae · 09/09/2021 14:31

We had that one a while back, novelty for a few goes then sat unused for ages.

Snuzzle · 09/09/2021 16:45

We had one a couple of years ago, DD and her cousins thought it was great fun for a few weeks but then the novelty wore off. Batteries didn’t last very long and we’d keep forgetting to buy sweets for it so it sat in a corner gathering dust for ages.
Definitely really enjoyed at first though and easy enough for the kids to do

Comedia · 09/09/2021 17:52

I am thinking it could be fun for Christmas day

My dd has one like that. It works well and she loved it initially. Still plays with it occasionally but not all the time once the novelty wore off.

IveGotASongThatllGetOnYNerves · 09/09/2021 17:55

Oh yes, I got one for the kids years ago.
They played with it once.

MrsWooster · 09/09/2021 17:55

We have one and it comes out for the Christmas season so by the time novelty wears off, which it does, it vanishes for 11 months. Buy it, you won’t regret it!!

Comedia · 09/09/2021 21:19

That is all the encouragement I need MrsWooster

Ours was fab until DD7 put kumquats in it and they went mouldy and the ruddy thing couldn't be cleaned out. So yes, I'd recommend it but not with kumquats.

Go on then, you've sold it to me! These threads get bloody expensive...

Grandma got my DD one. She loved it and so did her friends. The little tune is as annoying as fuck though.

I bought one as a present from The Range, think it was cheaper than that one
Like everyone else said, everyone loves it but then wears off after a while

AliceMck · 10/09/2021 09:59

We got our DD one a few years ago, it was one of the squishy claw machines. It was very popular especially with visiting kids. The squishes didn’t last well but my dd would add all sorts to it.

Errno · 10/09/2021 14:40

Hamleys have one reduced to £18. No reviews but it did pick up the bits on the YouTube clip!

😂 reminds me of when my DDs rand out of the food that came with their baby alive or whatever it was, got bored of using water they'd dyed with felt tips and tried out feeding it yogurt, and when that was a "success", cheese Confused

P.s. I love grabby machines!! I might need to get one of these for meeee!

MrsWooster · 10/09/2021 18:24

Also forgot to mention the sheer joy of pretending to be the tiny aliens from ‘Toy Story’ and squeaking “The Claw!!” every time you try and grab one of the quality street other and better sweets are available, including Sainsbury’s own, superior pretend QS

ShoppingBasket · 20/09/2021 19:15

My DS had something like this. He added lego mini figures and toy story aliens to it. It was a slightly different type of claw though. Great fun and every child that comes into house wants a go. It is sitting gathering dust now but got great enjoyment all the same.

Usualsundayblues · 20/09/2021 19:16

Got the groupon one last year and it went down a storm

Tenpintonpin · 20/09/2021 19:18

We had one and it never picked up a bloody thing, causing much frustration. Got junked fairly quickly and I was annoyed with myself for buying it.

welshgirl666 · 24/09/2021 20:10

Can anyone recommend a good one to get that picka things up? Xx
