Hello, I was wondering if you could tell me what you have in mind for your 2 y/o DS’s please?

Mine has a balance bike, scooter, toy kitchen and big car ramp, so wondering what we can get him that’s good for a big present, while not too expensive. He’s quite switched on so knows about Father Christmas, church and presents, so I’d like him to have a toy that looks like something Father Christmas would’ve brought on his sleigh.

Any ideas? I was thinking chalk board or little table and chairs. MIL is buying him a rug with cars/towns on it. But something he could play with is what I’m really stumped on!

A mud kitchen for the garden.

My 2 yr old is getting this: www.woodentoyshop.co.uk/bigjigs-mountain-railway-set-112-pieces.html

That will be his present from father Christmas and we will have it set up for him coming down the stairs on Xmas morning.

And for his stocking we will get him a book, maybe some clothes, some new bath toys (there's a fishing game I think he will like). And some light up sensory toys. We took him to soft play for the first time ever this past weekend and they had some in a sensory room and he was loving them. :)
That's it, he will get stuff from other family members so really doesn't need much.

A playhouse? Here's a real bargain at Dobbies. www.dobbies.com/playhouse/5637151056.p

Brio, it’s always a winner my eldest who 7 still plays with it when his four year old brother gets it out!

Or how about Hape grand city station, it really is good fun and fits with Brio and other train sets, www.amazon.co.uk/Hape-E3725-Train-Set-Multi-Colour/dp/B07B4ZB32B?tag=mumsnetforu03-21

Definitely a vote for the chalkboard idea! My daughter was given a black/whiteboard A-frame thing from IKEA for her second birthday and it's the only thing she owns that is still played with every day - she loves it. Less than £20 for the board, chalk and whiteboard markers are cheap. We wrote a big Happy Birthday on it and tied a ribbon around it, which was a sweet thing for her come down to in the morning. You could write a message from Father Christmas?

Stompythedinosaur · 08/09/2021 13:54

Ikea do excellent and affordable easels along with massive rolls of paper. We used ours for years.

All wonderful ideas! Thank you so much everyone, and thank you for taking the time to respond - it is much appreciated.

A tonie player?

Shootingstar2018 · 09/09/2021 08:54

I've got my 2 year old (3 in march) a wobble board. You can get starter boards or full size boards. I went with the full size one for longer use and also me and my other half can happily use it to 😉

noscoobydoodle · 09/09/2021 21:05

I second a wobble board- we all love it! A ball pit or soft play (nuby have some lovely velvet ones), a pop up tent (my DD has a bus one, and the older kids had a sweet shop), trampoline (small indoor one or one for outside), doll and pushchair.

A yoto player Smile

A work bench. DTwin boy will be a few days short of two and I've found a Bosch workbench with power tools and a little hard hat on FB for sale, as new, for (I think it was) £8!! Already all set up for me Xmas Wink

I’ve got my son a trampoline that flips upside down to become a ball pit for xmas. It was a little expensive £100 but will last till he’s 5 so definitely worth it in my eyes.

How about a duplo set?

foxgoosefinch · 17/09/2021 08:17

DD’s big Christmas present age 2 was a wooden train set - it became the most played with toy in the house for at least the next three years! We got the John Lewis one and it’s really good quality and compatible with all the others.

Also she was able to get it out and play with it ASAP. She was occupied with it all Christmas Day — which was great since DP and I had come down with norovirus and weren’t in a state to do anything 🤦‍♀️

PippinStar · 17/09/2021 08:26

My 2 year old is getting the same train set as @JasonMomoasgirlfriend but I’ve also considered a wooden workbench!

MrsRockAndRoll · 18/09/2021 22:09

I also suggest the IKEA black & white board. My 6 year old still uses his and got it ages 2
