My local B&M had a sale on Christmas things today

I’m a home bargains fan in the main, but I called into B&M to see if they had the galaxy white chocolate hot chocolate (I’ve bought a Velvetiser and it’s the best thing ever, but that’s another story).

Anyway, moseying down the aisle and I come across Christmas things.. had to look twice because there was a huge bag of silver baubles for £5 (50% off), I got two.

Then next more sale items - wipeable Christmas tablecloths (different styles) was £4 reduced to £1, packs of 25 large square paper plates (different styles) was £2 reduced to 50p, miniature snow globes with woodland animals was £2.50 reduced to 50p, plastic tumbers (different styles) was £2 reduced to 50p, plastic cups with swirly straw (different styles) was £2.50 reduced to 50p and finally bows (mixed colours including gold with mint, blush pink and Christmas tree green) packs of 25 reduced from £1.50 to 50p.

None of the items were damaged, it just seems like madness that they would reduce items when they were putting out the rest of the stock.

They have some really lovely gift bags and wrap which I stocked up on.

I bought 3 of the plastic cups for DH nephews children (I don’t know why we buy them as I’ve never met them-again different thread), for 50p each and thought I could add some gold coins in them and maybe a selection box for Christmas, cheap and cheerful but I’m sure will go down well with them.

Anyone else seen sales in their local B&M’s?

"reduced"

They're probably trying to get rid of last year's stick before filling with this year's.

Plus... Whatever the reason, it worked. You bought a ton of stuff you weren't planning in buying ...and are now telling everyone about the bargains, so they can go and grab them Grin

Poppins17 · 04/09/2021 19:36

Agree @00100001 that’s what they were doing but it just seemed mad when I hadn’t seen any of the items before, so wouldn’t have known they were last years, and honestly do bows have a sell by date? They weren’t squashed or damaged at all… seems odd to me.. but not complaining as picked up some bargains!

It costs them to store stock so it’s better for them to sell it to you at a cut price than keep it. Their business is to turn over as much stock as possible.

I rather like the look of their orange and lemon jelly slices but they dont say whether they are gluten free on line

Poppins17 · 04/09/2021 20:33

They had plenty of those in @Longbarn5

What is the premium brand equivalent? I’ve been trying to think if my dad likes them

My dc works for home bargains and is staying after closing tomorrow to put out Christmas stock. They've had delivery today of Christmas stock. Feels far too early.

CherryDocsInYrBalls · 04/09/2021 22:05

Checked and they say glucose syrup, water, thickening agents and a bunch of colours/flavours. It doesn’t mention gluten under the allergies.

Didn't check the Christmas stuff, but I did pop into my local B&M for some cleaning products and left with a large badminton set that was £35 reduced to £1Shock forgot the cleaning stuff so will have to go back tomorrow.
