Christmas decoration hunt…

Last year, my Grandmother gave me a case of Christmas decorations that belonged to her mother, having finally deemed me grown up enough for them Grin (I’m 35!)

I’ve decided to have a tree in my bedroom this year, as these are glass and DCs can’t be trusted, and they’re too pretty to keep in the box in December.

I need some new ones to go with them. Preferably not more than £10 each.

Ebay and/or etsy might be a good place to start your hunt?

NotMiranda · 03/09/2021 19:56

Those are beautiful. To make sure they are really the stars of the tree, I think I'd just get a pack of plain silver or gold ones to use as "filler".

Sn0tnose · 03/09/2021 19:57

They are so beautiful!

Second pic, third row down, first and second baubles in, can you take a closer photo please? I love seeing these old baubles.

loopylindi · 03/09/2021 19:57

oooh! They're lovely. If you have 'energetic' children I'd leave them in the box till next year - unless you want to sell them!!! They are irreplaceable unless you go to the Christmas shops in the US or to Germany.

reallyworriedjobhunter · 03/09/2021 20:03

Oooo. Lovely. How old are they? How amazing to be the fourth generation to have them.

MrsMidgeMaisel · 03/09/2021 20:16

Oh I echo previous comments. I'd treasure these, they're absolutely beautiful and how special to be passed down like that. Smile

I’ll get better photos tomorrow, I have crashed into bed after a long day but I love an excuse to get them out.

DCs are 13/10/5, it’s the 10YO that’s the leaping about everywhere kid that Does Not Listen.

I’m so lucky to have them, my Dad was not happy Grin The case is on display in my living room, he lives the other end of the country and hasn’t been here since I got them. Spotted it straight away and was so indignant that he hadn’t been given them, and I said I was indignant he’d sold all of his vinyl records when I’d begged him not to, he agreed that we were even.

My Great Grandmother lived till she was 98 (I was 24 when she died), and I am so glad I have them. She was very poor growing up and as an adult, so everything she had was kept beautifully.

The Christmas Imaginarium has some box sets in, £30-50 for a box of 6 - dozen or so different boxes on the catalogue, 6, 7 or 8cm, some all the same design & some varied. May be more online.

FoolShapeHeart · 03/09/2021 20:23

Yes, there's more online

Butterflyfluff · 03/09/2021 20:28

They are beautiful

Although those on that Christmas Imaginarium site are also very lovely, they are too similar, just without the history

Please don’t try and add to these with anything similar

Let them be the stars!

SolitaryTree · 03/09/2021 20:31

These are so beautiful.

MeredithMae · 03/09/2021 21:57

How lucky you are.

IndiaDreaming · 03/09/2021 22:37

These are wonderful.

ShaunaTheSheep · 04/09/2021 09:10

Gorgeous. DH has similar handed down, not so many though. I put them on a white twig tree (Hobbycraft) with some sequinned birds (and advent bird houses until Xmas Eve).

Oh those are beautiful!!!

I do wish I knew what had happened to my grandma’s Christmas globes :-(

I have been looking at similar ones on eBay and they are very expensive- maybe up to £100 for a box the size of yours.

Enjoy them!
