PortAndLemonaid · 02/12/2007 19:42

You should be able to claim back from the card issuers, even if you can't claim back from ebay/paypal. Worth contacting them directly, anyway.

Carmenere · 02/12/2007 19:42

and for you essbee

TwinklyfLightAttendant · 02/12/2007 19:43

Have you claimed through paypal???

If no joy there, do a charegeback with your cc company. Contact them asap, they should be able to get it back for you x

Call your cc company now - they WILL be able to help!

VeniVidiVickiQV · 02/12/2007 20:18

Ring the c/card company.

How do you know it was fraudulent - has ebay confirmed this? What has ebay said? I'm just wondering if there is any hope for you.

Why are you likely to just get £150? Do they have a limit to what they pay back???

IIRC, paypal should offer a refund but you will prob be better going via your credit card company as they are much quicker and more efficient. I would also take it to the police, the more "evidence" you have the more chance you have of getting your money back from your CC company. Very and for you

curlywurlycremeegg · 02/12/2007 20:31

ess, scan computers get them in regularly £325 so slightly over RRp but are reputable, I have used them

SenoraPostrophe · 02/12/2007 20:32

essbee: claim through the card company. you should get all your money back.

I thought with paypal you were covered up to £500 though anyway?

bubblerock · 02/12/2007 20:33

Essbee - if you don't find one locally I have some coming this week.

essbee, if you get your money back, Argos have regular deliveries, I got one last week for £180

Leslaki · 02/12/2007 21:06

Def call your cc - I had 2 fraudulent ebay purchases on mine (Tesco) and I had the money back in 10 days. They sent me a form which I filled out and the money was back in really quickly. When you call them could you ask them to raise your credit limit to cover hte amount iyou've just lost so you still have some left to buy pressies? If you're getting it back anayway it may help you just now.
Take care and good luck.

Sorry to say you've learned the hard way like me to always read the bloody feedback on ebay!!!

MegBusset · 02/12/2007 21:09

Essbee... DH is a consumer journalist and says you will be able to get your ££ back from your credit card co as long as the transaction was over £100. He says Paypal protection is worth sweet FA. In his words...

"Section 75 of the Sale of Goods Act is her friend. it states that the credit provider (the CC company) may be held jointly liable for any problems be they faults or non-supply
The CC company will of course try to rebuff her but they mostly give in because they know they have to.

"Paypal on the other hand, is a law unto itself and is not a credit provider and therefore is immune to section 75."
