Stockings for 5 and 2 year old girls

What is everyone thinking for stockings this year?

I have 5 and 2 year old girls and don't want to just buy a load of garbage that they break/forget about in days. I feel like I've made some good choices in the past but also some duff ones so do share all of your best buys!

They are of an age (and temperament) where they want exactly the same as each other otherwise there are fights 🙄 so I'm trying to pick things that are suitable for both ages.

I'd get them each:
a small cuddly toy
letters or name plate for their bedroom doors
a bubble bath bomb or some matey/organic sweet smelling bubble bath
some sweets
some glow sticks
a Schleich animal
some bath crayons
pavement chalks
a picture book
a magic facecloth - the tiny rolled up ones that bloom in the water or an animal shaped bath mitt.
some warm mittens or snuggly socks
a cute animal draft excluder or doorstop

Sawyersfishbiscuits · 30/08/2021 18:09

A beautiful book
Slippers or bed socks
A few Smiggle bits (I always used to find nice little things in the sale)
Bubble bath
Chocolate coins/mini santas
Bath crayons
Cute hair accessories
Cute hairbrush

Ricekrispie22 · 30/08/2021 18:20

Crazy foam soap
Hair clips
Joie kitchen egg cup
Stickers
Glitter glue pens
Mr Fothergill’s indoor cress garden
Colouring book

decoratedstandardlamp · 30/08/2021 18:23

I like a stocking theme so either craft or toiletries or sweets and treats.

lobsteroll · 30/08/2021 19:14

These ideas are brilliant, thanks everyone.

They will love anything bath bomb/bubble bath related so that's a great shout. Love the magic face cloth idea too.

Schleich animals is a good one, we already have a good collection going but not many woodland animals so might get some of them and they are quite Christmassy too.

Chocolate coins are a must too, and we always do a satsuma, although I think they usually get eaten by the grown ups.

Thanks for all of your suggestions, and keep them coming if you think of any more!

I put in tiny Lindt teddies. They are always a big hit.

Cherryrainbow · 30/08/2021 22:10

My daughters only just coming up to 1, I'm planning to get for her stocking:

Glittery soft dough from elc
White choc buttons
Kindi kid mini doll
Headband

LittleFroggie · 30/08/2021 22:49

I just go to Claire’s Accessories and fill my boots Grin then add in the stocking staples (satsuma, Christmas cookie etc).

TheFairPrincess · 31/08/2021 11:41

I have a stocking formula that I adhere to so all kids get a similar stocking which can cater to different interests, but obviously also the same ones! My DC will be just 6, just 4 and nearly 2 at Christmas.

Each of mine get:

  • A soft toy poking out of the top (might be a bigger action figure for middle DS this year)
  • A nice, small book
  • A special notebook and pen
  • Stickers
  • 3 -5 small, proper toys - I look to Rex London and Flying Tiger for these. I like that they are unusual/classic things the kids would not think to ask for, plus they feel very Santa's Workshop Blush
Rex London is also really good if you want to get multiple children the same thing, as they do the same item in different themes!
  • A special item that feels like it's from the North Pole - this year I'm going to get little geology stones and say they're rocks from the north pole or a star or something only Santa can get to
  • A Lush bath bomb as they are v. exciting and cute
  • The exact same sweet treats - A chocolate orange, pack of choc coins, big swirly lollipop, box of sugar mice, and nice jar of sweets
  • A collectible item - they aren't collecting things yet but I am doing Schleich animals as I love them and they are the right age
lobsteroll · 31/08/2021 13:52

@TheFairPrincess thank you! Great ideas.

That's exactly what I want, something that feels like it's been delivered from the North Pole!

I know flying tiger but I'll have a look at Rex London as well - thank you!

I’ve got 3 girls close in age so know how you feel. I get lots of same same but different, same things in different colours or patterns.

Hair scrunchies/ accessories
Soft toys
Christmas colouring books
I’ve bought packs of novelty nail files/ lip balms & nail polishes that I will split between them
Fluffy eye masks
Christmas themed poppits

Silversun83 · 31/08/2021 14:44

I have a 5-year-old DD and 3-year-old DS on my lists so far is:

DD:

Top trumps card game
Ear muffs
Bath bomb
Bath sponge
Fidget toy
Pocket lego/playmobil
Galt magic water pad
Nail varnish/stick on earrings

DS:
Orchard Toys mini game
Schleich horse blind bag (he's horse mad!)
Bath bomb
Bath sponge
Fidget toy
Galt magic water pad
Mini tractor

Also for both a few little things from toysforapound.

So some things the same (they also like having the same!) but some different to cater for their different interests.

Silversun83 · 31/08/2021 14:45

Oops, typed in a rush.. Should be a full stop and capital letter in that first sentence!

klajdndhus · 31/08/2021 14:47

I only have one just turned 2 year old (she is still young in that she won't really know what's going on so quite a few are practical gifts!)

Bows on hairband/clips
Toothbrush
Bubble bath stuff
New bath toys
Clementine

VanillaSpiceCandle · 31/08/2021 15:16

There are not enough suggestions for chocolate coins and oranges here!

I think
A book
Bath stuff like the Fun soap from Lush
Hair bobbles/head bands
Fun socks
Gloves
Crayons/glitter pens/felt tips - something more exciting than the normal ones they have

lobsteroll · 31/08/2021 16:13

Thanks everyone, love all of these ideas.

Lush bath bombs is a great idea and both would love them.

Chocolate coins are a must, and I might try and find the sugar nice too, they are so nostalgic to me. I dread the stickiness of a massive swirly lolly but their eyes would light up if they saw them so I might cave 🤣🤣

I saw some cool acrylic pens for painting rocks that I might get eldest and then might get some scented felt tips for youngest. Or possibly the crayola stamp markers
