Struggling with what to buy them every year so I hope you can help.
They are slight hoarders (born during the war, not throwing anything away) so I don't want to buy them any object or anything for the house because:

  1. They have everything in multiples
  2. It gets put into a corner and never gets used

We've done hampers during the years, afternoon tea and dinner vouchers but looking for something different and more interesting.

This is what they are into:

  • MIL: gardening, cream tea, cake, coffee, candles (but has too many unopened already)
  • FIL: gardening, sings in a choir, classical music, gadgets (but has too many already)

TIA xx

National trust membership?
Tickets to theatre
Tickets to some kind of open garden show
Gardening magazine subscription
Tickets to Chelsea flower show (if feasible from where they live)

Oh yeah, we have NT membership and asked them if they wanted to join but MIL has slight MS so walking is not a great thing. I should have mentioned that.

We've gone down the root of buying consumables or experiences.

Theatre vouchers.
Garden centre vouchers.
Wine selection.
Fresh flowers once a month for 3/6 months.
Cinema + Pizza Express vouchers for a night out.
Home-made hampers where each family member has contributed something.
I bought some wooden scrabble like letters from Hobbycraft and made a crossword with all* the family names and framed it.
Book tokens and home-made hot chocolate jars.

*Just PIL and their offspring, etc. not wider than that.

Visit to stately home/ similar with lovely gardens and voucher for cake/lunch.

Tickets to classical concert- I've seen some advertised by candlelight that look awesome.

Paddy and Scott 's gift box of coffees- my DH loved his last year.

When my DF was alive I'd often buy him a voucher for Dobbie's/ local garden centre then we went together to choose what plants he'd like. The voucher also can be used in the lovely cafe.

Hori hori tools are the single best bit of gardening kit you can own. I've given lots as gifts. They're all being used and the recipients have even bought them as gifts for others!

Niwaki is the best place to get them from imo. In fact, check out Niwaki full stop for gift ideas.

There's also a good, few companies that will deliver a fabulous afternoon tea including home made jams etc.
