@ElephantandGrasshopper, my 8yo is after a hoverboard/go-kart thingy this year too. I'm not really clued up on them but quite a few of her friends have one and the "hover1" seems to be the most prominent.

I googled it and seen that they are around £200 (Inc kart) from Curry's so I think we'll probably end up with that!

kerosene20 · 24/08/2021 22:56

We opened our blokus bargain today as kids were bored and all enjoyed it! My 5 yo played no problem, for anyone wondering about ages.

LostThings · 24/08/2021 22:56

@happytobemrsg kinetic sand can be a little messy, but my DD used to love it when she was younger. It's sand that sort of sticks to itself, so you can mould it and cut it, which is strangely satisfying. She used to do it on a big tray, so it didn't go everywhere.

Just seen the last thread and where the Dinosaur name came from! Made me laugh.

Thanks for the Superdrug Simple tip (a third off many priducts).

pleasekeeptotheright · 24/08/2021 22:56

Been back to see what the fingering is all about. All caught up now!

Can anyone recommend any nice but unusual whiskies for around £30, please? Single malt, not blended, and either peated or unpeated are fine. Open to Indian or Japanese whiskies if any recommendations, he’s quite broad in his tastes😀

ElephantandGrasshopper · 24/08/2021 23:14

Thanks @DoucheCanoe, my DC is also 8, seems they are a popular choice at the moment!

MadeForThis · 24/08/2021 23:20

Waiting on Blokus to reduce again. Wasn't sure if dd5 would be too young. But sounds like it could be perfect for her!

Slightly over budget (not in the spirit of this thread!) but Tobermory single malt is well liked by DH.

@Teddansononmyown I can’t do links but millets.co.uk seem to have the jacket for £99.97 and free delivery but only XS size

FilthyforFirth · 25/08/2021 02:34

Not massive savings here but got my Sherlock mad sibling this book for a tenner at the Museum of London website

This london tube christmas jumper is a bargain though sadly only available in small! Perhaps for the young teens in your life?!

@Jumpingintosummer

Has anyone ever used 66 books bookclub?

Seem to have some great deals Here

Both the warehouse and online shop are great. I live about 2 minutes from it, it's huge and a bit like aladin's cave
Cluckycluck · 25/08/2021 06:30

A couple of pairs of Christmas pjs have appeared on the kids new in section on the Asda website

Number109 · 25/08/2021 07:22

@happytobemrsg I find kinetic sand better than play doh. We have the set that comes in it’s own box so play is (mostly) contained! The upside is that any that gets on the carpet is easily hoovered.

Thegirlhasnoname · 25/08/2021 07:26

There was me thinking I had got away with a £3.99 air fryer but woke to it cancelled this morning 😂

Just realised I’ve been focusing on DD (3 in Oct) for Christmas bargains when I will also have DS (11 months on Xmas day) to buy for too. What do you buy younger siblings when I’m pretty sure he will just want whatever DD has and probably be more than happy with wrapping paper?!

RainbowPhilosophy · 25/08/2021 07:34

@deeplybaffled my husband and FIL like Nikka From The Barrel and Haig Club Clubman (blue bottle). Asda have the Haig Club one on offer sometimes so worth keeping an eye out.

Findahouse21 · 25/08/2021 07:36

@Thegirlhasnoname we have a 5 year sge gap but the things I got for dd2 last year which were big hits was stuff that I knew dd1 would like and would be likely to play with her. So we got the Fisher price frozen characters as a stocking filler for instance, and some robust play food.

DollyPartBaked · 25/08/2021 07:45

@Thegirlhasnoname we got some schliech figures which would get played with eventually and he could mouth in the meantime.

Also Christmas books that can be gotten out again year after year. First Christmas bauble.

They won't be interested in present presents!

Iknownothing · 25/08/2021 07:46

thisgirlhasnoname - one of the best things I ever did present wise when my dc were small was to get a huge cardboard box fill it with balloons and wrap it up - then you have an impressive looking present to unwrap, lots of crazy balloon fun, a cardboard box that will turn into anything and it costs peanuts.

DoucheCanoe · 25/08/2021 07:59

Thanks to the poster on thread 2 who recommended the House Of Fraser sale, managed to get the awkward 15yo an official Green Day (huge fan!) hoodie and t-shirt half price plus a 3 pack of minion socks for 9yo stocking for £1! - first presents I've bought this year and all for £35 😁

cravingmilkshake · 25/08/2021 08:01

Thabks for the new thread

Filterphobia · 25/08/2021 08:06

Elephantandgrasshopper we bought a hoverboard for my son for his 8th bday back in February. We got the Hover-1 Matrix with go kart attachment for £200 from Argos. My son loves it. We’ve had no issues with it.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 25/08/2021 08:07

Oops Scoop game on Amazon for £5, despatch is September but looks fun.

Carrie76 · 25/08/2021 08:09

@ElephantandGrasshopper my boys got hoverboards and go karts from voltes last year. They went down very well and are still going strong. The go karts are great run!
