anyone got any decent recipes for gingerbread or similar that you can do in pretty shapes to hang on the tree?

Have the cutters and stuff to decorate but no decent recipe to make any biscuits?

Am sure I read a post somewhere else where someone mentioned making it.

Do they need to be edible? Because salt dough makes fantastic tree decorations. I have a recipe if you need one

thats an idea - they don't necessarily have to be edible . you can still presumably glaze salt dough and decorate it? The recipe woudl be good mrsrufallo

I've never made these, but I've always wanted to... you cut the biscuits into whatever shape you fancy and put a boiled sweet in the centre, which melts to make a pretty stained-glass window effect.

Here's a recipe from Be-Ro

Or another one, with slightly more detailed instructions:

Stained glass window biscuits are lovely. If you bash up the boiled sweets you can mix colours for different effects. Our wedding favours were gingerbread men and women with red cola cube hearts... Don't overfill the hole - bake a few first to get the idea, then do a bigger batch. Many of my men and women were rather bleeding hearts...
