dh out tonight so ideas for pressies please. Need ipod info

I don't "get" i-pods so need them explained . Got dh a cheapish mp3 player last Christmas what would be the difference and/or advantage of having an ipod instead? They seem to vary so much in price and i have n't a clue .

I have just bought DH an ipod nano for his 40th. Got him the biggest memory whch is 8gb and it cost about 130 punds from Dixons or Currys.

We love ipods in this house, DH now has his nano and he has an old one from when they first came out. I have a nano and a shuffle. Itunes is really great for downloading music etc. There are loads of accessories you can get to go with them. I just really like them - can you tell?

that's fine cheeset he is out until the wee small hours ! I really don't get the need for movies on such a tiny thing , can someone explain why Nano might be better if that isn't required ? He enjoys classical music so wondering about a Shuffle since the mp3 player jumbles the movements up ! Can you "dock" them too ?

Yes you can I think. You choose your music on a shuffle it just plays what you have downloaded, if you don't want to listen to a track you just ff. A nano can also store playlists, photos, think it might even have games on the new ones. I agree about teh vidoes although when DH downloaded a music video the quality was amazing!

DH reckons ipod shuffle if you have to go for 'Apple' but thinks that 'Creative' is a beta make.

2nd generation are the slim long thin ones - not sure if they play videos, came out in all sorts of colours, 3rd generation are the new ones, squarer in shape, thiner, bigger screen plays videos, bigger memory.
