We always get the DC a nice book as part of their Christmas.
DS (10) is getting 'The lion of Macedon' by David Gemmel so that's sorted, Just need to find a nice copy.
Am completely stuck as to what to get DD (12)
Any suggestions?
(I got her little women last year and black beauty the year before)

How about the secret garden or Jane Eyre?

One2Three4Five6 · 13/08/2021 20:02

What about the Chronicles of Narnia?

I'd love to receive it myself, I think it's beautiful

One2Three4Five6 · 13/08/2021 20:03

Or one of the Mina Lina ones, I have Peter Pan in this style and it is just stunning

I read Wuthering Heights at 12. Still love that book.

MovinOnUp · 13/08/2021 20:03

I got her The Secret Garden before she could even read just because it's my favourite and I wanted to read it to her first 🙂
Ooh Narnia is a good shout, Thank you.

Maybe check out The Folio Society? They have some great choices available, we use them often.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 13/08/2021 20:12

Illustrated Northern Lights or if she likes Harry Potter the illustrated ones are beautiful.

HPandTheNeverEndingBedtime · 13/08/2021 20:15

Oh also if you look on etsy there are some great book lovers gift boxes, I bought the Little Women one for my Dd from the seller Literary Emporium.

Redcake · 13/08/2021 20:20

The Boy, the Horse, the Fox and the Mole. Beautiful illustrations and words but not a novel. Is your DD learning a language? I got this for my DD in Spanish.

CoffeeBeansGalore · 13/08/2021 20:24

The Wind in the Willows?

MovinOnUp · 13/08/2021 20:26

There are two Harry Potter minalima illustrated editions out. We have the first which is gorgeous and the second is due out in October.

PointeShoesandTutus · 13/08/2021 20:29

If you fancy a fact book, Maps is beautiful. We got it for our younger DD but myself, DH and both sets of grandparents have actively got it out on an evening to look through. Absolutely stunning and so much information.

The Narnia book linked up thread is gorgeous.

Also big fans of the Mina Lima books here too. Dd2 really loves the illustrated Harry Potter books - she is collecting each year as they come out.

We have a beautiful hardback Winnie the Pooh compilation, and Alice in Wonderland too.

MovinOnUp · 13/08/2021 22:17

@Grimbelina those illustrations are just gorgeous.

My daughter has liked this kind of inspiring women books.
This one is sport, but look women who changed the world or similar for lots of ideas.
