When do you start talking about Christmas with normal people?

I generally start planning Christmas in July to cope with heatwaves, and get a serious move on with the shopping in September.

But judging by the number of people who feel compelled to come over to the Christmas Board and give out to us for talking, this isn’t something most people do.

I’m curious when it becomes acceptable to mention the C word in your family?

With mine, September seems to be about right for a tentative “who’s hosting this year?” conversation.

My in-laws only wake up to Christmas in December and invariably throw spanners in my works.

Now the kids are slightly older (not the 6 month old obvs) I am more wary about picking up stuff earlier. I also have an over enthusiastic mother in law that gets gifts of things that I would assume are stocking fillers etc

Talk about who is hosting- September
Talk about presents- October although I will have already done a lot

I make my cake and pudding in July so there's inevitably some chat about that, although I wouldn't mention this to anyone outside my household.

I booked Christmas lights in April and I have just booked the Santa visit
Start buying presents around now, my DSs birthday is end of November so I collect ideas all year and then buy a few things a month. Christmas books are best bought around now as they're cheap and you can get them second hand for pennies.

Hoping to do the same as last year where we'll go and stay at my parents (who live round the corner) so they can see DS and do all the Christmas eve/morning things together. Please God there will be no major issues barring this from happening.

I'll start the petition for beef instead of turkey soon, in my life I have achieved it only once
