So I am looking to get DS 13 some nice aftershave and some deoderants other then Lynx Africa... Also possibly some skincare as he is starting (after a lot of nagging) to take a little more interest in his hygiene

All ideas welcomed Grin

At that age my son liked the teen nip + fab range. He's older now and uses the La Roche Posay effaclar range. We've bought quite a bit of fancy teen skincare. The pixi stuff is also good (but not specifically teen). I'm trying to remember what the other make if teen stuff was (the most expensive we've bought him) but it was crap compared to the others I've mentioned!

In terms of aftershave a selection box of minis is a good idea, they get to try 4 or 5 that way.

Justwingingit2005 · 05/08/2021 07:52

My son always liked Next mens smellies and that age and now he's a bit older he still loves Code Red.
They have little testers in store so maybe get a few of those for him to try.

BakewellGin1 · 05/08/2021 07:55

Oh they are good ideas about the mini sets and testing... I will have to drag him out with me one day.

To be honest I will be happy just not having his room or him smelly or doused in Lynx Africa which seems to be the smell of choice amongst him and his friends

My son liked the nivea gift sets and Paul smith, and the Hugo boss aftershave. It's a reasonable price in some shops specially on sale an their lovely x

I have a teen and they generally like to blend in with their peers. Popular scents are CK1Shock, Tommy Hilfiger, Davidoff Cool Water and Lacoste. As fas skin care goes, I can just about get my son to remember to use tea tree cleansing wipes. They're easy and inexpensive. I bought him some Anne French cleansing milk but was apparently too much of a faff. I use it now. It's stl great.

Froppysue · 05/08/2021 09:04

Cera Ve is brilliant for teenage skin, and is actually really popular right now too, as is the ordinary.

Fragrance samples are a good idea then he could buy one he likes. Otherwise I’d go for boss/Lacoste/Armani.

MrsRhysand · 05/08/2021 11:52

Definitely agree @Froppysue the ordinary is brilliant and extremely popular. Another skincare brand I'd recommend (for teens and anyone else) is 'The INKEY list', it's cheaper than the ordinary but really effective ingredients - you can get some of the products at boots.

MaryBoBary · 05/08/2021 14:20

If he likes Lynx Africa then why are you trying to get him to use something else? Confused

MissBattleaxe · 05/08/2021 14:34

@MaryBoBary I agree. My son and his friends all smel very similar and are quite happy. Lynx is decent quality stuff.

mumonthehill · 05/08/2021 14:41

I have got ds14 aftershave from Zara before, there are lots to choose from and they are not too expensive. Paul smith also has been a hit. I also live in a lynx fog in the mornings!!

BakewellGin1 · 05/08/2021 22:44

@marybobary I'm a little bit sick of smelling it and it might be nice for him to have a change to see what else he likes...

Now he is starting to care about his personal hygiene and appearance I would like to encourage him to keep going

Plus its Christmas he has Lynx year round. Lots of ideas to try now thank you everyone Grin

Try The Perfume Society website. They have an excellent discovery set for men full of samples. I think it's called The Suave Box. It's about £22.

BakewellGin1 · 06/08/2021 08:13

@MissBattlexe thank you I will

My DS are 20 & 18, 18 yo likes David.beckham Homme aftershave and the bodywash from that range. 20 y o likes Cool Water, CK One.and also likes most of the David Beckham aftershaves.

HotAndGrumpy · 07/08/2021 15:27

Hugo Boss body spray is heavenly. I tell mine to use it for special occasions and I still buy cheap-as-chips LynX Africa boxes from B&M stores.
I buy my DS16 Dermalogica Clear Start, which is for Teens.

I came on here to get some ideas. I love the sound of the Aftershave tester sets as my youngest has asked for Aftershave.

One other thing I am buying for my DS's is a voucher for a pamper at one of our local Turkish barbers. They love having a haircut, one has a shave, monobrow waxed and they also do hot towels and face masks, etc. They love a bit of pampering.

A set of manly tweezers and a nail kit. May sound a bit out there, but mine are getting into self grooming girls
Decent sponge/shower thingie (?) as a stocking filler.

HotAndGrumpy · 07/08/2021 15:28

OMG, that came out all wrong. I was trying to say they are becoming interested in having a girlfriend, not grooming girls. Blush

LadyCatStark · 15/08/2021 20:15

DS (12) also loves the Next Code Red that was mentioned above. He really wants Sauvage but it’s sooo expensive 😭

MummyJ12 · 15/08/2021 20:21

My ds (13) wears and loves Abercrombie Fierce. It’s a treat but it smells really nice, is not heavy and not too many people use it so it’s distinctive.

Whattodonow5 · 15/08/2021 20:23

My 13 year old wants Dior sauvage too but he's getting it with birthday money he's saved up as it's pricey. He's already got a couple of Calvin Klein ones.
I'm thrilled he's in to aftershaves as he's the hardest person ever to buy for so will make Christmas a lot easier!

He got a ted baker one recently for his birthday off a relative for only around £12 which smells lovely.
